These ratings are probably influenced by what I would expect from them.

Krul - 5 - Had nothing to do

Simpson - 2 - Just hack the fucker down.

Williamson - 4 - Did well, but own goal was dissapointing.

Perch - 6 - Our best player

Santon - 5 - Beaten on the inside and outside. Don't see a future for him at left back

Ben Arfa - 3 - Turgid, static, sloppy football.

Cabaye - 1 - Hypocritical baby. Needs to get his finger out of his arse. He is so much better than this but has suffered a severe drop in performance since November.

Guthrie - 5 - Average

Jonas - 6 - Runs, offers something, but is better on the left.

Best - 3 - Not a left winger. Needed to be a lot closer to shola.

Shola - 5 - despite a poor performance and being the easy scapegoat, at least he worried the Brighton defence a little and could have done with players getting closer to him.

Impressed with Brighton  ...they want to play football similar to Arsenal and Swansea. Exciting management in Poyet and Taricco as well.

Simpson offers absolutely nothing!

Well played Perch today.

I wasn't at all really - they looked toothless in attack and just looked your bog-standard 'park the bus' second division side. They won the game with one counter-attack and a fluky deflection. It was always going to be a danger given we were never, ever, ever going to score today.

It's a damning indictment of our strike-force that we've allowed ourselves to lose that game. We should have been home and dry by the break.

If the game was a rematch with Fulham i honestly reckon the result would've been exactly the same as it was last week.

:sadwave: any hope of us ever having success again :sigh:

 pardew for the worst set-up ever! Fear of failure has cost us, ironic really.

:banghead: <--- me everytime I see Ameobi on the team sheet.

:suicide:

We were supposed to be fired up after the Fulham debacle...We werent.

Lacklustre in the 1st half, not much better in the second. Absolutely gutless. Painfull. Embarrassing.

Cant think of one player who had a good game. Well...Perch actually done canny.

Krul...6 Nothing to do except pick the ball out the net. Kicking was aimless again.

Simpson...4 Horrible, disguisting and pathetic perfomance. Positionally wank, soft in the tackle that lead to goal and quality of ball into the box was awful.

Santon...5 Positionally very poor, canny going forward but had no idea's when in final 3rd.

Williamson...5 No football brain. Awful. No composure.

Perch...7 Done well. Read game and swept up. Still nowhere near PL quality though.

Gutierrez...5 Just didnt look interested at all.

Guthrie...6 Spread play well and worked hard but offered nothing going forward.

Cabaye...5 Been poor last 5 or 6 games Man U aside. Wasteful and created nowt apart from Best's chance.

Ben Arfa...5 Ran with the ball but no idea in final third. Lack of movement didnt help but thought he looked poor today.

Shola...5 Hold up play was good but absolutely no movement. He COULD of got into a few great positions if he actually made an effort.

Best...5 Ran and worked hard in the 1st half, missed two great chances and was shite in the second half.

Absolutely awful performance. AP got the tactics all wrong and baffeling substitutions.

We are out, didnt deserve to be in, move on to Blackburn now but its a little worrying our recent form and lack of heart.

knew we wont win.  Cup games always appear just before our best players are due back etc.  Our form over the past 15 games has been absolutely shocking and I worry that we will slide down the league from now.  Shola, needs to be sold and we need a some defenders.

I can only see us heading one way and it aint up! :frantic:

The containment tactics would have worked if we'd had any pace and movement up front. It's all very well having a slow, patient build-up but in the final third, things have to speed up. Shola is being singled out, but Best has the same problem.

In the end, we lost because of a typical Simpson moment - caught in two minds, ended up doing nothing. He just doesn't take charge of situations.

And has Santon ever been coached how to position himself as a full back? He had some real novice moments.

All supporters - particularly those who traveled - are owed an apology from the starting XI and especially from Pardew for setting our stall out to draw with fucking Brighton.  The team's attitude was reflective of an overly cautious manager far too satisfied with 0-0.

Agreed, you used to have the worst post. Cabaye bar one accident (shouldve been off, will be banned) was trying all around, was frustrated sure, but at least he gave an effort in.

Brighton were fucking dire. We were worse.

That's what's most irksome, they were absolutely terrible, we could have got away with a 0-0 if it wasn't for a fairly fortuitous goal and still been in the cup, but a little bit of bad luck is what punished our utterly shite performance. Shola's 'movement' today ffs

We didn't play bad we kept the ball in midfield well, but when it got into the final third we just didn't offer anything, thank got Ba and Cisse are back this weekend we need them, and hopefully it will be the last we see of Ameobi. We just gave them to much respect, we were acting like they were a premier league club and not a championship.

No support from midfield because Shola can't make the ball stick.

No space for the midfielders/wingers to make use of because Shola can't move.

No pressure from the front because Shola can't be bothered.

No threat on their goal because Shola only scores or threatens to once every 50 games.

No chance of competing because Shola played 90 mins. Simples.

Those wondering why Pardew was benching Ben Arfa and why we have been linked to wingers need to look no further than today. He wasnt shocking but he was probably even worse than Obertan.

really?!?\

He probably didn't misplace more passes than Jonas or Best did but we all watch him like a hawk. every single one of his possessions.

not a good game for sure, players have off days, and having said that he still created the best chance of the game.
