midds
The clubs made it's intentions perfectly clear over the last couple of years or so - they'll only invest in the team if it's in danger of going down. The lack of investment (not spending btw) is criminal and sends out entirely the wrong messages to the players we've conned into coming here believing the situation is any different. The manager has admitted he can't cope with preparing for 2 games a week, publically revealed he's glad we're not in European competitions and the club also has publically stated that progressing into the cups aren't a priority and are to be used to give some of the young lads a run out. Why would any half-decent, young player with ambition want to stay here, other than money? This current malaise and vegetative state the club has willingly put itself into will have some pretty dramatic repercussions in the short/medium term and the few quality players that remain will all leave once the penny drops about the club they've joined. I wouldn't blame a single one of them for looking elsewhere and to join a club with more genuine ambition than the disgraceful shite that's going on at SJP. It's fucking shameful. Andymc1
Aye one down and only thirty nine or so (?) to go, lights out in no time. Maybe they can hurry it up a bit by getting Obertan to flick his own head off when he leaves? Debuchy, Cisse, Ameobi, Marveaux, HBA, LDJ, Remy and Colo all likely to leave Likely to leave eh?, oh well thats that then, I'll go and stick a octuple bet on since its so set in stone.. Also set in stone that nobody will come in to replace them, we'll just keep selling players until we have to forfeit every game, at which point Ashley will reveal his Sunderland shirt in the center circle and sing cheer up Alan Pardew I've already said that is the worst situation. I probably shouldn't have wrote 'likely', I apologise.
AyeDubbleYoo
Presumably everyone wants Shola to leave, and I think including two players we don't own is slightly unfair.

taxfree
Bayern. I like the guy but it gets no better for him than this. That's just silly. In any case, can't blame him for considering his future.
Dave
Not a nice quote to read from what is now one of our best, most consistent players. Why would he even say this with so much left on his contact? It's almost as though he doesn't see the club going anywhere.

Dave
I'm pretty sure that in order to bring him to a club two points above the relegation zone after 21 matches we would have had to tell him that we had loftier ambitions for the future than simply staying up. The sale of Cabaye basically told the players what our long term ambitions are and it may have very well started something very bad within (but of course we have no way of knowing this for sure but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case...). No point signing for us other than to put yourself in the shop window. Back to the dark old days of Beardsley,Waddle, Gazza leaving. In between we decided when a player left- even Andy Cole was a conscious decision. We have gone full circle from the McKeags and ended right back to square one. I blame John Hall, the bar-steward buggered off sharpish with a giant bag of loot and damned be the consequences.
Sifu
Can you blame any of the players, it's got to ridiculous levels of s****. It really has. We've become a stepping stone for French players as well as becoming a club of nothingness.

Thing is with Captain Pardew at the helm, we'll end up on the rocks at some stage.
midds
Can you blame any of the players, it's got to ridiculous levels of s****. It really has. We've become a stepping stone for French players as well as becoming a club of nothingness. Thing is, I could just about be comfortable with being a stepping stone club. You look at Spurs and they've sold Carrick, Berbatov, Modric, Bale and probably a few more on to bigger and better clubs but the key difference is that they've pumped all of the cash made from being a stepping stone club back into finding more players. We've banked it. They've got the ambition to move the club forward and compete to win as much as they possibly can. Being a stepping stone club can be accompanied with realistic ambition and they've got it/done it. Players come and go all the time and I've long since passed the time where I take a player for granted, moving players on at a profit is acceptable as long as the club shows enough ambition to reinvest all of the proceeds into moving the club forward. That's what's lacking.
