tmonkey
Happy to see him go and hopefully replaced by someone who is solid defensively. Next up, Tiote hopefully.
BottledDog
12m according to SSN. Good business to effectively swap Debuchy for Janmaat and Riviere. Not a personal affront to you but I am sick of the term good business being banded about when it comes to transfers in football nowadays. I couldn't give a toss about the fee's we receive / pay nowadays. Fair enough, but you do keep pointing out we have money to spend or are up on transfers overall. We only have money to spend because of good 'business', as Ashley is apparently not prepared to invest and the club has to be self sufficient. Fingers crossed this change of players doesn't harm us too much, and hopefully works out well. No ill will towards the mighty 'Booch at all, good luck to him. Ryan_Taylor
Amazing it doesn't feel half as bad someone leaving when we already have a replacement. Funny that.
Skeletor
If having a replacement lined up before we sell players is Charnley's thing then he's already one up on all the awful cretins who've done our transfer business in the past under Ashley. jdckelly
a rather hit and miss player for me, when he was good he was great but my god when he was bad he looked like he had only vaguely heard of the concept of defending.

Tiresias
I don't blame him for jumping ship at all, if we showed ambition and he'd gone for more money sure I'd be annoyed but we aren't going to be in the champions league, or even winning a domestic cup in a long long long time. I hope his fondness for us is genuine (like cabaye's seems to be) and so will help tap up players in the french set up for us for years to come. bhoywhonder
Even though he has moved onto pastures new, I bear no ill feelings towards Debuchy. He gave it his all during his time here and was the best RB we've had in a while. He was one of my favourite players last season (and certainly remains as one of my favourite French players at least) and I do wish him all the best. Bon courage Mathieu. I only heard that phrase for the first time on Kermode and Mayo's Film Review last year. I now use it at every possible opportunity..... Bon Courage Mathieu mon ami. Aussi, Wenger est une maison de merde. Une maison de merde supreme.

I don't see how anyone can possibly begrudge either Cabaye or Debuchy, both gave it a good go until the penny dropped we weren't interested in doing much more than stay in the division, and both have only left to join CL clubs that are actually playing football that will suit their game. Beren
Best RB we've had in absolute yonks. Quite comfortably too.
bowlingcrofty
I'd argue Habib Beye gave us better service.

Sadly we're not going to spend unless we generate money, not that you give a shit obviously.
Guest firetotheworks
Beye was better for about the same amount of time, especially defensively.
Minhosa
Beye was better for about the same amount of time, especially defensively. Agreed. Think MD will do very well for Arsenal though. He'll have far more midfield options available to him.
Stottie
With a very decent looking replacement already signed, this could be good business. I think we need someone who can defend more than someone who can add to the fret down the side. Debuchy is also headstrong and dives in much more than he should. He looked a much better attacking player at the Euros than he did for us, so it'll be interesting to see what Wenger can get out of him.
KaKa
Ah! Habib! Always forget he played for us! How smooth was that cat?! What a classy right back he was. Miss him terribly.
Newcastle Fan
Not really sad about him leaving, obviously a good player but wasn't anything spectacular, we got a pretty decent player in his place and sold him for twice what we paid in the end, good for all parties involved i guess. Mr. Snrub
Debuchy is comfortably a better player than Beye, dunno how or why this was brought up into a debate. Beye fucked off to Aston Villa because we got relegated, Debuchy is going to a team that will be challenging for the title whilst cementing his place as France's number 1 right back. toontownman
In comparison Debuchy looked like a rabbit in headlights defending. Beye never even broke a sweat. We got him just at the end of his peak. Too bad, probably my favourite RB to play for the club, oozed class in that first season.. was gutted he dropped us in the relegation season. How much of that was him, his agent or the club telling him to take a pay cut or pushing him out who knows. Remember thinking he was dead cert to stay. He always seemed honorable. Revolution Number 9
Beye was class in 07/08 like, the only player that season who seemed to play well every game.
