Just over two years later he has them coming from 2-0 down, away, to the European Champions in a Premier League match to draw 2-2. Then he gets sacked. You couldn't make it up. Whether he would be willing to kowtow to the board in they way they seem to require is another matter although the Southampton chairman doesn't seem to be an easy man to work for.
