No, I think he just didn’t enjoy the experience of working under Ashley and doesn’t see his time here as memorable. I don't know if its true now, wouldn't be surprised it is but am surprised anybody would be surprised at the concept that there are clubs we should be competing with and out-competing, many by every measure, but simply opt not to bother - Wolves, Leeds, Villa, Everton, West Ham, Spurs (pre Ashley damage), It certainly was the case pre Ashley re Everton but all the damage he's done to our standing and all the cooked books and misdirected funding is all that makes it questionable now.
