Darth Crooks
He's getting the benefit of the doubt solely because he's replacing an utterly anonymous player a non spectacular and averagely competent player. Inspires complete ambivalence.
Guest firetotheworks
Give him time. Give Colback soldiers bullets.

Deuce
It is rather pathetic that people hated the guy before he even played a minute for us.

midds
It is rather pathetic that people hated the guy before he even played a minute for us. I didn't hate the guy, I hated the signing. Signed for all of the wrong reasons. In some ways his performances can't disappoint me because I expect nothing of him in the first place.

Guest reefatoon
I think all of our central midfielders are ho hum. They really don't offer much. Totally agree, our central midfield options are shite, they are all one and the same, zero creativity between any of them. They don't support the attack or create and they don't protect the defence either.

Mr Logic
He wasn't static on the ball for Sunlun. No-one responded to this but I thought it was very pertinent. Pardew tells the players the role he wants them to play and it's quite clear he was told not to venture forward, have to keep our shape, just keep it simple. I could write the following in every players thread. Pardew is going to shackle every bit of creativity and movement out of them - each and every one. And the only players that will think Pardew is the king are the likes of Williamson and Elliot.
Jack Flash
He's scored 10 goals (5 in the Championship years ago) in nearly 200 games. I don't think we can blame Pardle entirely for the ineffectiveness of Wearside Jack.
Exiled in Texas
I think the signing of Colback was a question of timing. He signed early in the window when NUFC did not know what other signings would come through, and better to sign Colback when available than hold out for the Plan A signings (Cabella, Grennier, PEA, Lacasette) which may/may not come off. I'm not convinced that we would sign Colback today if he came on the market now. It was opportunistic and provided cover for minimal cost.
Tiotes Witch Doctor
Not fit to lace Guthrie's boots tbh and I'm barely even sure hes any better than Gosling.
loki679
He's exactly what we knew we were getting, a bang average, nothing player. Not sure whether to be worried he's started every senior preseason game (Sheffield was the kids).
Ronaldo
Not fit to lace Guthrie's boots tbh and I'm barely even sure hes any better than Gosling. We both know he'll have a much better career than Danny Guthrie.

Ronaldo
I sincerely hope not, but there's a reason Guthrie's 27 and likely to be stuck outside the PL for the rest of his career in spite of his natural talent.
TRon
I thought Abeid was better than him, to be honest. No way he should be starting ahead of Anita. I always thought Colback was one of Sunderland's better players but I have to agree. I still think Abeid's got more potential than Colback if he got some decent time in English football. Pilko
He's been 5 or 6 out of 10 in every single game. He's a Pardew player alright.
Cronky
I think most of you have got this lad wrong. He's a decent all-rounder and will prove to be a good signing. As someone else has pointed out, it's not as if we're overloaded with talent in CM. Colback is the least of our worries.

It's been one of the tedious subjects of the summer along with 'the king' and 'left backs' and 'fret', like. Boring as fuck.
