Unless games at Sunderland’s academy coincided with NUFC games, he pretty much went to every NUFC game, especially midweek games in Europe. I also remember that he went to the games against Spurs and Chelsea in the FA Cup the year we got to the semi-final. He did get a lot of stick for playing for them, but again he downplays this in the podcast, he was clear that our academy just wasn’t good enough at the time, hence why he went to them.
