Hatem Ben Arfa (still a free agent)

Watched the second half.  Hatem put a massive shift in pressing the opposition defence.

tbf he rarely done that when here.

His work rate was always fine in general. He was a terrible defender but he would pressure the opposition all over the pitch. There were isolated occasions when he could have worked harder, but that applies to pretty much every player.

Pardew and Bruce unable to spot/utilize a players obvious talent and potential  shocker.

Two of the three main candidates for the England job, by the way. The other (successful) one paid £7m for a knackered Alan Smith. They inject passion, mind.

Damning indictment of English football, that.

this post made me wonder when the days of managers 'putting an arm around' a difficult player disappeared from english football and it purely became about workrate with them all

It's not just English football. See Guardiola coming in and telling everyone at City they're a bunch of fat cunts.

Are you saying he gave EVERYTHING to NUFC?

He looked hopelessly unfit for long periods (broken leg aside obviously) I don't doubt there is talent there but his application was terrible.

his attitude was spot on right up until the point pardew decided to make him the scapegoat for his own failures, he then appeared to just think "fuck it"

not an ideal response from him but he was clearly being ground down and forced out of the club

Pretty much this. The "feud" that every shit manager like al pards needs to justify their own failings.
