SEMTEX
Completely get that. I just fear another false dawn for the obvious reasons. Nothing comes of being under Mike Ashley. Ā I know, even as I write it, sign for a season ticket.. I can feel myself thinking.... he's just going to beat me up againĀ Ā He absolutely will. Ā But everyone will have been placated by the Rafa move, so it'll buy him a few more years before he has to do something to get people back on side. Rejoice. Ā It's always been about what happens on the pitch for the majority of the fans. If Rafa's had to bite the bullet and finally appoint someone who's qualified to manage a club of this stature, then only the hardcore campaigners will have an issue with it. Because if Rafa stays, he's not going to sign up to finish mid-table. He'll demand the resources to challenge for honours, and at the end of the day that's all we have ever really wanted. Maybe Ashley will be stupid enough to mess Rafa around which will lead to him leaving. I don't see why though, there's enough money around in football these days for a club like this to be up there challenging, especially with a top class manager in charge. loki679
If we get Rafa to stay then i'd hope they'd at least wait and see what happens.Ā However this goes down we should be behind him 100% so forget the boycotts and protests and shit and try and be positive.Ā There may have been a sea change at our club, there may not have been.Ā A fuckload of negativity won't help either way.Ā I'd love Ashley to sell up and piss off but give this a chance first, at least, before we go getting the bedsheets out. Why can't we enjoy Rafa signing but also campaign for Ashley to fuck off and die? I'm so disillusioned with both Ashley and the majority of our fanbase that I'm struggling to give a fuck even if Rafa does sign. Yeah, it would still give me a kick if he did, but knowing what our club is about under Ashley just doesn't sit with me. I can't enjoy it 100% as long as that cunt is here. TRon
I enjoyed the 5th season. It was great. Ā Despite Pardew IIRC. He dined fine on the remnants of the old squad overseen by Hughton, and some Carr additions like Ben Arfa, Cisse, Ba and Tiote. Ā Ā
M4
It was great once Pardew's hand was forced into playing that 433 from around Feb-Mar.Ā Maybe some slight revisionism but before even though we had the odd class game (like ManU at home) things took a while to get going. Belfast Boy
I guess these guys are in a bit of a difficult position now. Darth Crooks
Their position will be the same. It's a long way before Ashley be trusted. I suppose they'll claim to be done sort of watchful eye. Depends how you define reprieve.

Ā It's because of movements like this one that Ashley has finally had to shift from the cheapskate policy of hiring has-beens and drunks rather than qualified professionals with a good reputation. The dancing nincompoop Pardew was forced out by none other and ultimately that is why we now have a world class manager in charge.
AyeDubbleYoo
Yep, as much as I never believed Aslkey could actually be made to sell, I underestimated the potential impact on what he does. If it wasn't for Pardew Out or Ashley Out we wouldn't have Rafa and a new (maybe) policy now.

Ā I 100% agree its down to their great work that we now have Rafa, but is their stance 100% Ashley out, or would they accept he remains if the likes of Rafa and other footballing people take full control?
