triggs
1: 20 years old 2: New league 3: Shit manager 4: New shit team 5: Thrown in straight away 6: Pressure He was never gonna hit the ground running straight away and as he wasn't able to perform to the level everyone expected his confidence obviously went to shit and after that happens it can take a while before you're back to perform at the level you potentially can. I'm not sure how many of you play or have played football at a decent level, but when your confidence is down and nothing clicks then you start thinking too much and when a chance comes you kind of feel insecure and even before you've touched the ball you almost know that you will miss and that's what usually happens then. He has a lot to prove and hasn't done anything yet really, but i've always had belief in him and thought that his time will come, and that his finishing will improve as he gains more confidence and experience. Hopefully i'm right. It all went wrong from the beginning, we never should have needed to rely on a 20 year old in new league going in as 1st choice more or less straight away. I really like him and i think he has a bright future and hopefully that will be at this club time will tell.. Even if he doesn't make it here, the last year and a half have been a total embarrassment from some like. It's not often you get a player who clearly genuinely cares like he does yet some are desperate for him to fail. I'm not even sure why he's barely put a foot wrong other than Spurs. I don't think he cares any more than most of our players
Hanshithispantz
I never said he did. Everyone's pulling in the same direction and I cannot think of a player who doesn't look on board at the minute. Mitrovic has always had people on his back though and he's never looked like he's going to half arse it, last season or now. EDIT: basically even last season, when we clearly couldn't be arsed, he never hid or shirked his responsibility. He wasn't ready but he still battled away to the best he could up top. ponsaelius
I'm well on board the Mitro fan club atm. Fluctuates though. He's another bad game or red card away from me calling him a useless lumbering idiot.
shintonsghost
I like Mitro but i like Gayle more, thats the problem for him. He does however have a knack of changing games. Tough one

Fatwax
I think that we all want him to do well, but sometimes when he's been given the chance he just.. hasn't. Obviously there are a load of factors for this, such as age, the team last year, tactics, adaptation to a new country & league etc. but he wouldn't be the first player to look fairly average and then kick on a year or so later. Andy Carroll didn't become a proper fan favourite and score for fun until we bought Leon Best.
Ikon
At the end of the day we have two good strikers that can score goals at this level. Two strikers with different styles, but both offer us something and this is great for us
Ronaldo
Andy Carroll didn't become a proper fan favourite and score for fun until we bought Leon Best. Or when we started playing 2 wingers (after signing Routledge) and ditched playing a DM. Take your pic which is more responsible. Clue: it wasn't signing Leon Best. Incidentally you know that I'm not saying that Leon Best caused Andy Carroll to improve, so why go out of your way to reply with such a suggestion? Weird. Yorkie
Ronaldo hates the argument that Best's signing improved Carroll.
Ronaldo
We started playing better, more expansive and more attacking football with crosses coming in from both sides and Carroll killed it. Best's signing had no influence on Carroll.
Guest neesy111
It was clear the signing of routledge and having some sort of width on the right helped Carroll.
Ronaldo
We played some awesome stuff in the second half of that season. I have a feeling we'll eclipse it this time round though. In terms of results, anyway.

Until Christmas of our last Championship season I was really wanting Ranger to start as Carroll was looking a bit luke warm at best. Hoiw wrong I was! Hanshithispantz
Fuck off with the accusation of people desperate for him to fail. Fucking ridiculous. Err, it happened though. You cannot put so much vitriolic effort into slagging a player off and be fine with being proven wrong like. It's not how humans work. I'm not saying you did, but I'm assuming you've slagged him off in the past giving your touchy reaction.

I'm not saying you did, but I'm assuming you've slagged him off in the past giving your touchy reaction. I've given him criticism, yes. So fucking what? I don't think it was over the top at all. But your comment didn't touch a nerve with me personally - just that I found it ridiculous that some fans would resort to accusing fellows fans of such thing. And no, I don't think it's human nature, btw. I'm sure it's only a limited number of people that genuinely feel bothered about him proving them wrong. Aye because UncleBingo doesn't come into the thread all the time calling him a lumbering idiot, we need to get rid, should have signed Austin instead etc. That other lad who's been obsessed with calling him 'Misstrovic' ever since he arrived obviously secretly wants him to do well too. Neesy who 'hates his personality' and said he was shite after the Norwich game must also be keen for him to make it here? In fairness to Neesy like he's a canny reactionary lad after/during the game Still though there's been a lot of pretty clear hatred for him probably since his red against Arsenal. I absolutely wanted Colback to fail when he arrived as I'd already made my bed (I actually kind of like the lad now). Ian wants the country to burn to the ground just to prove he didn't pick the wrong side on the referendum. People do need their opinions vindicated like, it is human nature. This doesn't mean that if you've slagged him off in the past that you want him to fail, I just know for a fact some people did and a few probably still do. Hanshithispantz
Honestly though if I'm being honest, there's nowt even wrong with it. Just about everyone is like that arent they? I'm only bringing Ian up because he actually admits to it Obviously he doesn't really want the world to end, or for there to even be any real, tangible negative effects of leaving Europe, but he doesn't want to see the smug reaction of the leave side knowing they were right. And obviously 'craves' the satisfaction of seeing them realise that they're wrong. That's what I mean with people desperate for Mitrovic to fail. It's more of a desperation to have their opinions vindicated, and the opposing argument to look foolish.
Klaus
a little part of me deep down wants the country to go to shit following the referendum.
mrmojorisin75
i agree with hans, i think a fair few people here and irl judged mitro early doors and that's it for them...unless he turns into shearer and starts belting in 20+ he'll never be good enough for some people despite the fact the £12m (14) we paid for him is a fucking pittance in this day and age and he's ridiculously young with plenty of time to come good
Hanshithispantz
Aye we've seen it loads of times, it's hard to turn your opinion of a player around. I'm guilty of it probably more than anyone
mrmojorisin75
suppose i'm the polar opposite mind, i liked him from the moment he turned up so am willing to cut him loads of slack
TRon
I worried about his finishing, nothing to do with hatred or wanting him to fail, just need to see him stick a few more away like the second against Preston. That was a striker's goal, and the first time I've seen him show some real composure with the ball one on one.
