Chancel Mbemba - will he leave?

One thing is certain, Chancel Mbemba is not part of Newcastle United’s first team plans. However if FC Porto think they can get a bargain then they are very much mistaken. O Jogo reports that FC Porto don’t want to pay United more than €6m but the asking price might be as €8-10m. This one might drag on.

Tell Porto where to go. €8-10m can't be beyond the reach of Porto. They're in the Champions League every season and sell players they've bought on the cheap for huge fees.

If we are going to accept a lower fee, whack in a huge sell on fee.  Given it's Porto, they'll probably sell him in two years for some astronomical fee, so let's get some of the upside.

Portuguese press still confident Porto will land Mbemba

This one’s hit the rocks somewhat, but the Portuguese press still seem confident it’s happening.

A report in newspaper Correio da Manhã today claims that Newcastle are ‘being difficult’ in negotiations, although in reality what that means is that they’re holding out for their asking price on the DR Congo centre-back, rather than accepting a lower offer from Porto.

But they still seem confident the deal will happen saying they expect it complete this summer, with Mbemba definitely leaving England after falling out of favour under Rafa Benitez.

No doubt Porto will be hoping NUFC cave in and accept less money. With the Premiership transfer window closing before Portugal's, Porto can afford to wait.

Gonna be announced today apparently.

Undisclosed fee, paid in installments. Like Mitro's is going to be later in the week.

I've seen £6m quoted. Instalments for £6m ffs. Woo. Chuck another tenner in the wachest.

5.5m in instalments? This deal stinks. He’s far better than anything we could bring in for that money. It’s a terrible move for the club, although I still can’t get my head around his age, 23?! “Is he havin a laugh?”

Best of luck to him. Still think he could've been good for us but it wasn't to be.

I look forward to eighty percent of his transfer fee being forgotten about as it gets paid over the coming years and we can only 'spend what we bring in'.
