It's a shame for him as he looked in good nick. We'll be fine with Longstaff for a couple of weeks though, he seems to have a better on-field relationship with Bruno.

I'd be happy with either Willock or Longstaff. Willock has slightly outshone Longstaff, in the PSFs, but they both look up to the task.

You would think that, but Longstaff has always operated in more advanced midfield roles when he's played hasn't he? I think it will be Bruno in the holding role, and Shelvey/Willock in front of him.

That's shit for him and us. For all the criticism he used to get, often fairly often not, I really like him. Thought he was really good for us to the point of being underrated once Howe came in last season.

Yeah, I feel sorry for him and it could make things tricky for us if we pick up any injuries but long-term (and by that, I mean from next season) I struggle to see him in this side

Bloke's coasted as our highest earner for too long. He's been great under Howe, mind.

After how hard he worked in pre season, I feel bad for him. Under Howe he would have been a fantastic option off the bench.

You wouldn't think it when you hear him, or see his general demeanor, but I honestly think he's had an areet time at Newcastle.

 

Certainly one of the longest stints he's had in his career. Mind that could also be the fact Mashley was our owner

Bruno can’t play every minute of every game, this is a real blow.

We need back up for Wilson and if we can get Maddison/ Paqueta in then that’s now more of a priority for me than a right winger. Willock has an injury in him and Longstaff isn’t good enough imo. Anderson; huge risk.

 

Gutted for Shelvey, seems he’s really bought into Howe and had worked hard even before pre-season.

Damn. Already a hit to what was looking like much improved depth under Howe. Sucks for him too as he really does seem to step it up when he's got the right manager motivating him.
