The College Dropout
You're delusional mate. We've done great on Rafa. Next year - sure in the PL we'll outgun them. But Palace have signed one of our top performers. Signed Mandana. We've signed their squad player and Matt Ritchie. They're currently a more attractive option. hoppaz
Gonna say just this he was reporterly offered a new deal for more money to take the clause out but he wants to play at the highest level both domestically and as an international. Can't blame him for that desire. Hope Rafa activates his relegation clause again next summer.
Away Toon
Fuck me there are some dumb ass keyboard warriors on here sometimes. Pardew is a shit manager for sure but he didn't get us relegated, fat mike with his ridiculous appointments did. I know it's fashionable to attack TCD on here but he's entitled to his opinion and he's no more right or wrong than most people. Although Palace are a more attractive proposition than us next season, I dont think anyone is disputing that they are a shitty little club, with a dick of a manager and that Townsend is not only pretty stupid but he turns out to be a disloyal cunt. What a surprise.

ToonTastic
Bloke played 13 games for us or something and folks are going on like he's been here 10 years and left us in the PL to join a rival for cash. Yeah he might regret it but he had the option, he has no reason to show us any loyalty really. His mistake to make.

Yeah he might regret it but he had the option, he has no reason to show us any loyalty really. His mistake to make. The reality is football fans have gone on too long allowing this to become reality. He does owe us everything. If we didn't come in for him he'd have been tucked away in the reserves at Spurs, never mentioned in the wtf to Roy's exclusion of him at the euros and he'd have been dreading his return back to his club gearing up for another season watching first team matches from the stands or his home. He owes us everything, and by us I mean Rafa. Because under McClaren he was hurt and sort of not doing much of anything either.
toontownman
He is gone now, move along. Pardew will sign enough decent players this summer to get Palace enough points to survive, then he will ruin them midseason...and repeat cycle.
Zero
Andros, it is exactly for football reasons that you shouldnt go to Crystal Palace man....had it he Southampton or even West Brom it would be fine.
Away Toon
Southampton maybe, but West Brom no fucking way
Decky
Can't wait until we're back in the Premier League with Rafa and he's rotting under Pardew. I've zero time for players that leave us, especially where we are now rebuilding under a great manager. Remember last time we went down? All that rats that left us amounted to nothing and I expect it to be largely the same this time round.
merlin
He's gone, wasn't at NUFC 5 minutes, we made a few bob on him and although he was one of the few forwards who could run at people with the ball he was not a regular in the Spurs side. He's a southerner, no roots or attachments in the NE so in my view its better he has gone - I trust Benitez to sign a player who will be at least, if not more, effective in the Championship so not worried....we are doing OK with transfers right now. mrmojorisin75
Andros, it is exactly for football reasons that you shouldnt go to Crystal Palace man....had it he Southampton or even West Brom it would be fine. This is the truth of it. I'm sure TCD is right to an extent, to a footballer Palace will be more attractive atm because footballers are as thick as fuck and rarely seem to understand the game itself. However looking at it in football terms it's an awful decision to go and play at Palace in his position as he'll be covering full backs or rotting back on the bench once one of Pardew's runs of doom kick in. Tsunami
He's going back to London and his agent will have been pushing him to leave. There was never much chance if him staying; I do agree that unless Palace were his only option that he could have chosen better.
Stifler
It's shit that he went to Palace of all teams, but with Pardew as manager he's not going to push on with his career/performances. As it happens I thought he was too selfish with the ball and didn't have enough talent to back it up, even in the game against Palace he lost the ball a dozen times because he wanted to cut inside and shoot instead of playing the pass. In the long run I don't see how Rafa would have been happy with a player who lost the ball as often as he did, he may have got away with it the Championship but assuming we get promoted again he would just be found out in the Premier League. Tiresias
Not going to start slagging off his ability, did very well for us. Just think wanting to switch Benitez for Pardew speaks volumes for someone not quite thinking straight. Not like he's waited all window to see if any other premier league clubs were interested. dinotheprehistoricgeordie
I think what annoys me the most about this is how he came across. He was going to stay, he loved the club, the fans were amazing etc. Just don't. Don't talk shit if you're going to jump at the first chance to leave. I would be less annoyed if he was going to a decent prem club which didn't have Alan Pardew as the helm and another four (or whatever) players that play in his position. But to suggest he's gone to Crystal Palace so Pardew can 'develop him' as a winger is fucking laughable.
