If Charnley is moving the goalpost it's because Ashley is telling him to...imo

Not so sure.  We managed alright last summer when Fat Mike was keeping his distance and Charnley and Rafa were running things.  Now this new lawyer gadgie is here everything seems to have gone to shit again, don't reckon that's a coincidence.

Lack of ambition is made even more worse by the fact they also have zero f***ing clue about football. Recipe for... relegation!

Not that I'm defending Ashley or his entourage, but how do you reckon one would "have a clue about football"? Is there a football university course for MD's and DoF's? Is that where the likes of Peter Kenyon graduated from?

Charnley has been employed by the club for how many years now? Surely he'll have learned a thing or two?

Begging them to add a couple of million for a player that was willing to drop down to a division he excelled in and help get us back up?! Man the jokers that run this club are an absolute shambles.

If the reports are anything to go by, hasn't he done something similar this week with the instruction to Charnley to up our offer for Jacobs? It's f***ing pathetic like, the manager having to tell Charnley how to do his job.

8m (for Jacob Murphy) is an uncompetitive offer in this market. Not worth the fax paper it was printed on.

Surely Ashley has put this bloke in place for a specific reason. looking at the way we seem to have conducted transfer business since his appointment it would seem to me that he's here to ensure we don't get deals done as we should. This surely has to come from the top.

If Ashley was serious about having a good season he would be pressing Charnley to get deals done. The deals aren't getting done. This shit has been going on from the day he forced Keegan out.

Ashley has just played Rafa. Used him to get us up, now he's fucking him over and waiting for him to walk on a free. Then we bring in some desperate bloke who will work with what we have plus a few cheap deals.

He will think he can fluke a survival and be rolling in the money again. Just really feels like it's heading that way.

More likely he finds Rafa difficult because Rafa demands things from him and doesn't take the shit served to him. Just like Keegan. On top of that Rafa being popular means the fans hatred is squarely back with Ashley. During the Pardew era Ashley could generally get on with life because Pardew was taking all the flak away from him.

We paid £5m for Jermaine Jenas back in Bobby Robson's day.

I would say that the 5m (Jenas), 6.5m (?) for Dyer, and 8m (Viana) amounts we splashed out back in Robson's day, for youngsters with bags of potential is probably 10+ to 20m in today's market. This is how out-of-touch Sports Direct United is with what is happening in the market re: going rates.

Edit: Dyer (6.5m, signed by Gullit)

The same club sold Redmond to Southampton for £10m a year ago so I don't think £8m is an unreasonable or bad opening bid given Redmond was far more proven. The worry is this bid seems more likely our one and only offer.

The opening bid argument would work if we were securing our main targets after negotiating. The January window fail, and Rafa's identified preferred players going elsewhere would suggest that we are more likely taking the piss.

I knew there'd always be a fear with Rafa: he's a political manager and always has been, always had strained relationships with owners. I remember Carragher in his column back in April or May wrote about how this is a game he's always played and always will play to get what he wants, but this just seems and feels far worse.  :huff:

Worrying reading - especially given that Hardy must have decent contact with Rafa. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/newcastle-transfer-news-rafa-benitez-contract-a7837171.html

listened to his interview on true faith podcast about his book, he most definitely does have good contact with Rafa and that to me is very f***ing worrying, and basically confirming what a lot of us thought.

But never mind, at least they've sold a s*** load of season tickets before he leaves.

for anyone interested it's worth a listen

.COM are reporting the independent article as well now which is interesting as they haven't commented in anything regarding the stories of the last few weeks

Know it's only two blokes, but as said above their seems to be a lot more credence associated with this particular report than any other. There clearly is something very wrong
