People will not be on his or any other players back if they perform to a decent level. If a player isn't performing then of course people will talk about, just like they would if a player performs well, like he did yesterday. It's understandable that players don't always perform well because of various factors, but you can still demand more at times. Players and people in general will always be judged on how good/bad they do, it's just the way it is, whether thats football or any other job.

From the highlights looks like he finally showed why we got him, pace and power, beating men easily. For anyone who saw the full game, did Birmingham push up a lot against us? I only suspect one of the reason he has struggled is how deep a lot of teams sit against us and Diame wants to power into space behind teams midfields

I don't mind when it's constructive and actually has substance. The amount of people I've heard at games who have had absolutely no clue and a desperate level of desire to abuse him has been ridiculous though.

I'm not sure booing our own player is ever constructive. I could understand it with players just sitting collecting their pay packets and waiting to be sold like Sissoko and Wijnaldum a bit but think Diame has just been struggling rather than actively not giving a shit. Could be wrong. Anyway hopefully he pushes on from this

A far, far better option than Perez in that position, despite what the skewed criticism of him and not Perez might have suggested.

Sometimes players deserve to be shot with shit because they're actively fucking up the club. I don't think that any player in the current regime deserves heavy criticism (maybe Shelvey if he actually did racially insult a player) but just think back to our first relegation and Owen was dragging the armband around putting in absolutely no effort. One goal would have saved us... even Viduka tried.

Nobody has booed Diame. He's been s****, yesterday he was quality. That's it.

Pretty sure he got booed off against Norwich. Then again he was having his 10th lie down of the game at the time

Aye he did and it was 100% justified as well. The lack of effort that night from him that night was there for all to see and when he lost the ball and didn't bother tracking back which led to their 3rd goal he was always going to get stick. Tbf to him he's more or less admitted he hasn't been putting the effort in since he joined but on Saturday he was immense, especially 1st half. That's what he's capable of and if he can start producing that on a regular basis we'll have a cracking player on our hands.

Everyone and their dog slate Perez though.

I must have missed that, because it rarely if ever happens on here.

It's been happening now. At least 6 months after other players would've got it but the tide has turned.

Perez has been getting plenty of criticism but it tends to be disappointment led rather than mocking. That's the main difference imo. People genuinely rate Perez so it's a let down when he doesn't perform, whereas Diame is the new Shola/Sissoko, based on I don't know what.

I don't know how many genuinely rate him. He's not improved at all since he joined the club, he's not learnt to lift his head since he's been here, has no situational awareness and doesn't have a clue what to do with the ball until after it's taken off him rather than before he gets it.

He's got lovely technique and ability, but if you play blindfolded you're rarely gonna be any use in a real situation. His lack of pace also exacerbates his inability to find space and keep the ball.
