Been watching the news - really tragic scenes. I'm afraid things are becoming less and less promising by the minute.

I dread seeing this thread now. I fully expect the next time it's bumped it will be tragic news.

Thanks for bumping it and making us all think there was tragic news.

Soz, but I'm only really checking on here to see if there's been any updates, not really sure if it's been reported anywhere else to any degree.

Going to be looking at 50k dead when the dust settles. What an absolute disaster for the region, Erdogan should hang his head in shame at his response

All Erdogan cares about is cementing his own power and filling his own pockets

As a former player, maybe Newcastle could step in and help? Anything... It's awful what's happening over there.

Realistically how can the club? We don’t know the locality, we don’t have people on the ground, more likely to get in the way albeit with good intentions. Short of hiring in lifting and digging equipment and shipping it to Turkey with a team of operators (presume everything in Turkey is already mobilised) not sure what the club can do and even if we went to that extent there would bureaucracy getting it in. It’s 8 days since the quake, it’s no longer a rescue operation except for the odd miracle story of survival.

Sad but true.

Might not ever get closure on a large percentage of the missing.

have you read the agents piece?

five people in the wreckage are STILL ALIVE. The agent is trying to make a case to prioritise the building but he is struggling getting a translator.

the obvious help would be for NUFC to get a translator.

They stated thermal imagery showed signs of life but the only real confirmation of life is sight, sound, and smell. Thermal imagery isn’t x ray vision, so they have some heat signatures, could be anything such as building materials absorbing sunlight and then releasing heat as air temperatures cool later in the day. Not being a dick but it’s not proof of anything.
