Other clubs' transfers

He (a DM similar in ability) wouldn’t start most games in the current set up. But I do understand fans wanting a defensive mid as an option. As we don’t really have anyone that is recognised in that role and I think at times we lack someone for the FM Anchor/Tiote role.

All a bit of a moot point. As Howe has gone down the route of getting another box to box type midfielder in

for big money. Plus, we’re not going to spend whatever is left of our budget on a bit part, specialist type player like him or someone similar.

I'll personally reserve judgement on the way we set up in games until the next international break in early October after we've played a variety of sides, some good and some shite.

Not excusing the horseshit that was yesterday but we have had the hardest start in the league. If we're languishing in the bottom half at the close of play on 8 October then I think we can look at just what isn't working. For example if Barnes still isn't starting then or if these pre planned subs still hinder us, then aye.

Good player but won't he slow them down even more ?

Yep.

I like him a lot. Good bloke, highly intelligent, but they need mobility to kill transitions. Amrabat looked like that guy but they don’t seem interested.

I don’t know who does their recruitment (one for @Froggy to answer) but their moves don’t appear to have much joined up thinking. It’s very odd to me.

We're not interested in Hojberg. Amrabat still the #1 midfield target but we have to sell.

Dunno why Man Utd didn't just sign Sabitzer long term. Better if not equal in to Mount and would have cost a third of the price.

I like Sabitzer, but he is nowhere near as good as Mount.

Amazing stuff, Chelsea genuinely just incessantly buying midfielders. Is this all the result of joined-up thinking?

I reckon if i made myself a wikipedia page describing myself as a midfielder, took 30 years off my age, and sat tight, they'd make a move for me eventually.

Would be surprised if the Arse were willing to let Smith Rowe go like?

Thought he was well though of there.

I think he is but it might be about game time for him (or lack of....). I 'm pretty sure Villa bid £25m for him last summer which was flat rejected but given they're not getting a transfer fee for Tierney this summer maybe they've got to sell an asset for FFP purposes having spent so much on Rice, Havertz, Timber etc.

He's a player I really like btw - ESR.

If it's in the region of £20m-£30m, he's good value when you consider some of the fees this summer.
