Honestly this bloke has potential to be mentioned in the same breath as anyone who has legend status at the club.

He is perfect for us, we are perfect for him in many ways. Hope he is here for the rest of his career.

If he doesn't outlast Ashley I'll be livid.

Guardiola and Dyche will be ahead of him

Yeah as wonderful a job Rafa has done with us this season, Dyche has Burnley 7th in the table and going for Europe. Guardiola's side have been streets ahead of the rest all season.

For getting a team that's 80% championship to 10th is a remarkable achievement. Manager of the season?

But 100% of those 80% were premiership the season before that again. He is currently exceeding expectations, but let's not go overboard here

It is massive to be safe by now so the club can have more negotiation time for the takeover and hence more prep time for next season. Thanks for the magic Rafa.

How reliable are marca? :knuppel2:

Rafa Benitez set to take charge at Real Sociedad

They are reliable when they talk Spanish football outside of the Barça/Madrid bubble. That said, I can't see Rafa taking it. It would be a sideways move at best (although Real Sociedad have a talented team that should have done far better this season), and I'm sure they can't match whatever you're paying him, nor promise much in the way of signings.

Fairly typical speculative tabloid article that starts off certain then changes as it goes on. 'Set to' becomes 'has become the favourite to' becomes 'could be set to'.

And the last paragraph is surely nonsense: 'He has one more season until his contract expires with Newcastle and the English team don't seem to have much desire to renew his deal.'. Righto.

If Sociedad is his best offer I think he’d stay and even work with Ashley beyond his current contract. Here’s hoping Stiflers Mam is back in for us and there’s no uncertainty over the summer regarding his future.
