Maybe we could give Joselu more than two games before writing off his ability to finish chances also. Not much point discussing it though, Rafa will likely pick the correct decision.

He scored a total of 6 goals last season, he has never scored double figures in a top flight campaign, despite playing 20 plus games a season for the last 5 seasons, his league goals record is 5,9,8,4,5. Three starts for us is enough to judge that he's the player is record suggests he is, as a sole striker that's not a good enough return.

Context is obviously important & other factors such as confidence. He hasn't had much consistant faith shown in him previously. Run through how many consecutive starts he's had and what those "20+ games" are in actual minutes played. As I say, Rafa will likely choose our best gameplan anyway. Its important if a striker is getting chances which he is. He did well the first two games & missed chances in good positions the following two. Thats a very short period to decide anything. I still expect Gayle to come back into the reckoning myself.

His goals per minute in those 5 seasons you mention though is 1 every 250 minutes...over a season that's about 13-14 goals?

.... not sure why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist, I guess it's cool to follow what Dave thinks here ?

Got fuck all to do with Dave.

Think there are 12 games possibly 14 if you count the Everton ones, that you need to just write off, anything out of them is a bonus. Absolutely the case here, if we can keep them out, think we'll win as they can't seem to keep a clean sheet. We'll need to play a lot better than we did at Brighton though to get anything.

That's possible the trigger right there though.

Personally speaking I cannot fathom how a 'fan' can even think like that. I imagine others are the same. You might know they are tough games but you never write them off.

Probably just a poor choice of words on your part though, so why not just forget it.
