Various: Mike Ashley in talks with Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan

This latest debacle is his crowning glory in my opinion. Actively shafting Rafa Benitez the best manager we could possibly hope for who isn't asking for millions whilst likely botching any takeover attempts due to his own greed and/or stringing everyone along. Furthermore there's every chance the club will sleep walk to its 3rd generation under his tenure due to the same age old fuck ups.

Unbelievable and so utterly tragic

I just wonder what anyone gets from it anymore?

Losing barely hurts and a win is just meh, no matter who we play. It’s not an exaggeration to say he’s ripped the soul from the club.

We’ve always been underachievers, especially when we had top players. But the last 15 years or so.. Ashley era and the last few of Shepherd, we're exactly where we should be.

We’re a club who finishes somewhere between 10th and 18th.

It was the hope that kept me coming back again and again, but without that what’s the point?

I'm very close to jacking following us in general.  Better things to do in life.

Been there a few times. Never as close as I am now, to the point that if he's still there in August I won't be. Met some of my mates last night and we were talking of what we'd do if we stopped going..............mmtheres a part of me now wants him to Stay so we pack in and do these other things.. Part of my worry in the past was always mates who stopped going and you never see them again.

Can never bring myself to feeling outright apathetic to Newcastle United, got my dad to thank for that. Entirely agree that there is no hope while Ashley owns us and when/if Rafa leaves and there is no takeover I won't set foot in SJP until he fucks off/dies. If we ever get taken over in the (hopefully) very near future or whenever, it'll be one of the best days I would have following us, which kinda shows how painful it's been under the parasite.

Same, been preparing for it for a while now. End of the season will probably be the tipping point.

If we get sold it would be the best thing to happen for a generation or more. The club is dead otherwise.

Aye the club really has been stripped to the bones of everything including a future under this parasite, I said I will be leaving in the summer if Ashley stays but to be honest that might be me done now.

The kids coming through are typical academy ones, neat tidy but little plan.

We are miles behind through this cunt

If I’m being brutally honest, literally the only thing that keeps me interested is this place. I could find it quite easy to switch off and support my local side - a team that values supporters - otherwise.

This fat cunt is an absolute criminal for the way he’s stripped the club of its identity and killed it off. He might has well have killed me Nan to be honest.

I pity the lot of you living with it. At least it's not in my face as a reminder every day (other than the obligatory self imposed newsnow viewing/subsequent shaming everyday).

I got into following the Canadian MLS teams, vancouver in particular given the beardsley/SBR links and now the new Candian League so at least from time to time there are things to take my mind off it and our recent standard doesn't make the transition that bad. Can't remember the last time I actually got properly excited by following us though. Its compulsion, habit and misguided loyalty to a club run by cunts that only want to mock and milk the fanbase.

Like it doesn’t bring any joy. Every weekend it’s like I’m punishing myself for 90 minutes for something awful I did in a past life. It’s not sustainable.

I think I could get behind a movement to get everyone to completely boycott the club while Ashley is still the owner.. just put all my energy into that instead.

Feeling a lot of this myself. I feel sadder about the future of NO when everyone gives up on SD Utd than I do about not caring myself when Rafa leaves...

Rafa will leave and he’ll be replaced with some fuckwit.. followed by another 3 fuckwits including caretaker managers.

Ashley is more than happy to shell out money for a managers wages if it means we'll stay in the league by just treading water.

I think Jose Mourinho is about another 2 sackings away from descending to that level. And the masses would lap it up, for a while at least.

If that’s the next 10 years of this football club then fuck that! I’m out.

Even with a takeover, all I can think about now is the potential negatives. “Will they be as bad as Ashley etc” ... it could easily happen

Its football at this level aswell, I hate everything about it.

 I've stopped watching football completely this season and really don't miss it at all.

Might just be an age thing but it seems to me the game I grew up loving just doesn't exist any more.

Even if he does sell up, how much is it going to cost and how long is it going to take for a new owner to bring us back up to speed and competing again?

What is a back up to speed?

If you think we can get former top 4 days back you are deluded mate, the years of under investment means 3 transfer windows spending some £200 million each on a squad is the only chance you have of ever getting competitive again.Thats an investment of at least £1.5 billion with wages mate......NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

So even without FCB we are gonna be mid table at best now, unless we fluke a season..

Doesn’t mean I don’t want rid of him but this is pretty much how it will go, we can’t compete with anyone other than top 6 down.Im fine with that , just don’t think it will be anything more in truth and it will not happen overnight either. This fucker has put us back years and years and talking to a few lads at the match last night about this very subject we all agreed the European trips will not be seen for many years to come.

Ashley had his chance in his first year, it appears he fucked it up and the decline started. Aston Villa will have the same problem.....can you handle this future? Any future without FCB is ok  O0

I walked away after the Chelsea game, and haven't watched a minute of us since. As far as football goes, I've watched 3 live games all season and they were all on in the pub.......however, watched virtually every game in the World Cup, so my love for the game is still there.

Talked to my Dad at the weekend, and he's giving up at the end of the season unless Ashley goes, and he's been a regular since 1950. Sad times indeed.

In 3 weeks time it will be 10 years since I set foot in SJP for a football game where I supported NUFC (3 Rugby games and the Northumberland Senior Cup final doesn't count as I was in the Morpeth Town camp that day).

Had cancelled my season ticket at the start of that season after Keegan left and Kinnear was installed. Was travelling up from Leeds for every home game and the box office amazingly swalloed a bull story about being moved further south allowing me to cancel a few games into the season. They must have been a bit suspicious as I initially explained the real reason for wanting to cancel.... Continued to buy the odd ticket when back in Toon and the 1-1 derby against the mackems (Taylor dying swan pen game) and the end of that awful transfer window I decided that was it.

For me it was obvious at that point Ashley had no intention of investing the funds we as fans put into the club and I have vowed never to put money into the club whilst he owned it. Never thought he would still be here 10 years later. For something you devoted your life to previously it is heartbreaking but I've not missed it as much as I thought but I will still renew the season ticket when that odious man goes.

So many stories on here that are following the same theme of "enough is finally enough" and I wont be renewing etc...

I think I will renew next season regardless and here is why:

I started going to the match regularly in the early 80's, mostly with my friends from school and we would roll up to the Gallowgate turnstyles quite early to queue for a pay on the door entry.  Around the early 90's a friend of mine got a job as a match day steward and if we turned up to his gate around 3:10 he would open it up and we could all get in for free, this was in the Milburn Paddock.  All of the time the stadium was being redeveloped and various areas were being closed while the building work took place but, we always found a way to get in, either paying on a gate that was open of getting in through my mate and his hooky behavior.

Not sure exactly what season it was but, it was early in the Keegan reign, we started to be told that if we didn't buy a season ticket we would not be able to get in because the ground was selling out.  Back then a ticket for me would have been about 100quid for the season, maybe a little less but, we just ignored the warnings until the day we turned up and there were no turnstyles operating and we couldn't get in.  I then missed loads of matches when we were great - although I was able to get tickets for many of the great games.  It gutted me and still does to know that I missed hundreds of games back when Newcastle were fantastic.

I did put myself of the waiting list and eventually got a ticket in the East Stand, I didn't renew for one season during the Pardew days and I can honestly say that I missed the football immensely - even though we were rubbish and ultimately were relegated.  I got a new ticket the season following when we were in the Championship and Rafa stayed on, I was able to get the seats just along the same row as the location of my original seats so it feels like I never left.

So, my fear is that I chuck in my tickets now something good will happen, Ashey will sell and a great owner comes along and I will miss great football again because I cannot get a seat.  I know it is unlikely and I am really kidding myself if I think it is happening soon but, that is how it is inside my head.  I am over 50 years old and have supported Newcastle all my life, as ambiguous as I am towards the current team, win or lose / score or don't score, it all feels the same, I don't think I could stop myself from wanting to be there.

Does that make me part of the problem, possibly but, I do not think that match day revenue is such a big part of the NUFC cash cow empire.  I agree that empty seats will send a huge message out to the owner but, if he is really driven by money then the gate money will barely scratch the surface.

Pretty sure I will be slated for this opinion but, this is how it is for me and I would bet thousands of others who know they are going to renew but, are a little but scared of being barracked on here for admitting it and called out for being weak or part of the problem, I think you all call them sheep or worse....
