Fairwell. Deserves credit for his performances last season. Will do well for Burnley.

Good deal for everyone, he's still a good keeper, especially for a club at that level.

Eh? He literally was going to be part of that transfer. He pulled out of the tour because he was supposed to be going there, until Trafford opted for City.

I actually didn’t know that, can’t remember it ever being mentioned before now

Enjoyed his Indian summer last season and if I had been Newcastle manager he'd have kept his place when Pope returned to fitness. Thankfully my role in NUFC is limited to being a gobshite online and occasionally face-to-face.

He was a breath of fresh air when he first arrived; an obscene upgrade to what came before, and that ManU game in which he made his debut was one of the highlights of that decade ().

I was never particularly moved by his desire to go to Man Utd, probably cos I never had any major affection for him beyond appreciating his ability. Beyond that, I've respect for a goalie who's been generally happy to be an understudy and although 23/24 was brutal, he made a terrific contribution last season.

Decent goalie, good guy, hopefully will be generally fondly remembered.

All a bit of a shame that loan move.

And it was a disaster for all involved.

Dubravka never played. Man Utd paid a loan fee for someone they didn’t need. And we ended up short of keepers.

I prefer to forget it ever happened tbh.

Man Utd might argue they won the cup because of it

In fairness… Karius had a canny game. 2nd goal I still replay in my mind though.

Don’t think we would have scored that day if we played all night.

Great learning curve for last season though…

I'll remember him at about the level of Krul.  In that if you asked me to name a  list of NUFC keepers he probably wouldnt be mentioned but if someone mentioned him i'd think he wasnt that bad.

I think he had a bit of a redemption arc.

I thought he was brilliant when he came in.  Timelines are all a bit fucked, as I didn't like watching us for quite a while.  So I may have some this wrong.  But I think it was post-injury and also from one or more howlers for Slovakia.  I thought he then looked a bit shaky.  It didn't matter too much, as we were regularly losing by more than one goal from memory   But he seemed at fault or a bit soft for goals quite often.

Pope looked miles ahead of him when he came in.  Then Dubravka fucked off to Man U which I thought was a bit shitty.  Didn't even try and fight for his place, then decided he'll go to Man U to play 2-3 games.  Then when he came back in for Pope, he mainly looked crap.  Rooted to his line and weak on anything to his right.

But last season, certain facets of his game were great.  Not sure he has always been so good with his feet or if Pope is just that bad that it was more noticeable.  But his passing and ability on the ball helped in a lot of games.  He made some cracking saves and seemed more pro-active off his line, too.  It got to the point where it felt like the majority on here would have kept him in the team ahead of Pope.  Which would have been unimaginable to think that the two seasons prior.

Good luck to him and I'm glad that he can leave on a bit of a high after playing so well last season when called upon.

He was what you wanted from a deputy GK last season, filled the role well with Pope's injuries.

Exactly and played a big part in our winning streak last year, Ramsdale does seem like an upgrade from him though and it will be great if we can sell him for profit.

All the best to him. A good servant over the years and I personally found the Man U stuff overblown. Particularly after he came back and knuckled down, culminating in that great run last season.

You could argue it says more about the competition but he's up there as far as post-Given 'keepers go. Who would you take ahead of him? Harper, Krul...?

All good. Hope he gets this move and does well for them. Some amazing memories with him over the years. We needed him to step up and he did and appreciate he stuck around to see the season out. Deserves whatever move he wants for his career.

On the stadium tour me and the bairn did one of the security guards said he’s the nicest professional footballer he’s ever met.

That’s all I’ve got.

Arguably one of our worst or more than adequate keepers of all time.

Not even close to the worst. Was fairly decent initially, but didnt age well then soured itnwith that ludicrous Man U loan. Better than Selz and Karelse, worse than Given. Probably on par with Harper
