That Crook Town owner sounds so detached from reality tbh.

Doesn't he know how hard it is for a lower league club like sunderland to make ends meet? That £710.50 could go a long way for them.

Aye…it’s 0.018% of a Will Grigg…

I know they’re entitled to their cut but it’s become an accustomed and much appreciated gesture that the big clubs don’t take it.

Somehow, I don't think it's going to take Hercule fucking Poirot to figure out why they did take it.

Taken from Mike Amos's daily blog this morning.

Since they like to be known as the Black Cats, it might be supposed lucky when Sunderland FC cross your path. Crook Town take a different view.

Town hosted Sunderland’s under-23 side on Wednesday in the Durham Challenge Cup, 534 spectators attracted to the Millfield. After the usual deductions, the balance was £1,421.

Frequently these days, the big boys waive their right to half of the gate on such occasions – as did Newcastle United when 1,300+ turned out at Ashington the evening previously.

No such luck with Sunderland. Crook this morning received a request for £710 (and fifty pence.) Club chairman Vince Kirkup, the most urbane of men, is angry.

“We have to work hard for every penny we get and they’re a multi-million pound club. I know they’re entitled to their cut but it’s become an accustomed and much appreciated gesture that the big clubs don’t take it. To be honest, I’m disgusted.”

The score? Oh aye. Crook Town 1 Sunderland 0.

That's an amazing thread.

They are arguing that they can't afford to give up £700, that the person who posted it must be a mag, that the people from Crook are all mags and that they are sick of being taken advantage of (probably by mags).

It's as if they are so stupid that their heads have exploded, and I Iook forward to their ongoing rivalry with Crook Town, and the North Sea.

They really are totally mental in the heed like. The way they just spin everything so it's our fault is pretty funny if I'm honest.

Always chuckle at the 1992rs craic that they cling to. What they’re forgetting is we still had bigger crowds and Durham was infested with thousands of mags pre 92.

They also fail to acknowledge the fact that pre SOL they struggled to get 20k for games at Roker, even when they we’re back in the PL under monkey heed.

Is monkey heed the only sound mackem? I like him a lot

I follow him on Twitter and he's as sound as a pound. I'm guessing he's not flavour of the month with the makems these days with his socialist views.

You’d now realistically have to be mid-30’s not to be a 1992er.

I was 8 in 1992 and actually went to my first game that year (I apologise for to any watching mackems for being a bit young before 1992 to go to games) A 1-0 win over tranmere thanks to David Kelly. So I am a proud 92er and I live in North west Durham (annfield plain). I am the pinnacle of their hatred!

Opposition fan - check

In peace - check

Saying Sunderland have the best fans in the division - check

Then, us getting the blame for the behaviour of one of their idiots within the first five replies - check.

Good luck for the rest of the season- check

Apparently they think they are three decent players short of being too strong for this league.

This is a big come down from when they first dropped into the third division.

when they where saying they would go straight back to the championship.

How the mighty have fallen.
