Interesting view. I see where you are coming from but for me ASM is too wasteful with the ball. Miggy has discovered a scoring touch and creates a pace of movement because he passes the ball! Others have commented on him being one footed and predictable but his run of form would be invaluable if he got his mojo back. I really hope ASM rediscovers his form but for me he just doesn’t suit the standard of team we now are. Reminds me of Adama Traore. Looks great in full flow but where is the output? Ketsbaia
Proper love ASM, like. Think we need him to start because he's still often all we have, attacking-wise. Saturday wasn't his best but we've been struggling to score. Got to persist with his flair.
mighty__mag
I like his glasses. Knowledgeable chap, like many of our fans. Watch out Adam P. Edited February 8, 2023 by mighty__mag
jackyboy
I don't think that Dan Burn is an ideal partner for ASM
gbandit
Think this is the right approach with ASM, he needs to grasp his opportunity and he’s only got a small window to do it. It’s harsh in a way as he’s trying to play differently and there are signs of him shifting his game but if he can’t take his opportunities before the end of the season I’d be amazed if he’s with us going into September ‘
STM
Hes definitely an arm around the shoulder player. Away from home, bit of space on the pitch. Fancy him here.
STM
Fwiw, I don't think he has a long term future. He could have a belting end to the season and I'd still wager that he will be sold in the summer but if he can contribute a few goals and assists before then... I’m starting to see it like that. Not sure he would ever fit in as a regular starter under Howe. As his attributes and style just don’t seem to fit with what we’re trying to do. Even if he is trying to fit in. He is clearly more than talented enough to start for us. Now and in the future. But at the same time, he is too good to sit on the bench regularly and I doubt he’d be happy with that, if that ended up being the case. Weirdly, he was good tracking back against West Ham and worked hard pressing at times. Just wasn’t particularly effective when closing players down. It also had an impact on his game going forward. As he looked well below his usual standard and lacking the usual explosiveness.

Newcastle Fan
I thought he was one of our brightest players today, certainly was down to him that we scored the first goal and looked a threat. hopefully his injury isn't too serious.

Aiston
Other than his involvement in the goal, he was piss poor. Way too injury prone.
Nine
Will be gone in summer if any worthy offer comes in
gbandit
Great pass to Longstaff, other than that, all his crosses just floated into space where we didn’t have players making a run. I think that’s probably mostly down to ASM not looking at where people are but also partly down to people not making runs
Gallowgate Toon
Thought he was alright up until the final ball which was generally rubbish, goal involvement aside.
Doctor Zaius
Did well for the goal but he was so wasteful. I'm gutted at how much he's gone off the boil like.
Wandy
He is finished here, and is fast turning into one of the most overrated players to wear the shirt. His runs contribute nothing because the final ball or shot are absolutely shit and he regularly loses the ball or misplaces a pass. Will be playing for someone like Palace next season if he is lucky. Menace
I think that performance today summed up his career with us in a poetic way
mouldy_uk
Sadly he looks nowhere near a top six calibre player at the moment. Want to see him succeed but can’t see it being with us.
The College Dropout
Made probably the only quality pass of the game. Looks isolated a lot. But was also piss poor on the ball. Hope he’s ok.
Rich
The moment for the goal salvaged what was otherwise a pretty average display, but it doesn't matter anyway because he's fucking injured again. That left side today, especially when Willock was on the pitch, was tragic.
Wolfcastle
To put it simply. He very rarely plays well.
