Stifler
Millwall players pretty much all stayed standing tonight. Their fans got their way. Yes, and that is why there was no boooing and a small round of applause. Of course the narrative will be because they aren’t massive racists at all, instead of the massive racists gaining a symbolic victory.

Super Duper Branko Strupar
Even saying "the black guy" is out of order. Obviously yes. By Western multicultural standards it isn't great at all. But living in Korea I experienced 'the white guy' and 'the foreigner'. 'The black guy' would certainly be used commonly too I have no doubt. In a post-communist country with probably less than 0.1% of the population being black there are different standards in terms of use of language and what counts as acceptable. It's churlish to ignore cultural relativism when incidents like this happen. UEFA however should surely be vetting their officials on stuff like this to make sure every one of them are singing from the same hymn sheet if they're going to ref on the biggest stage. Romanians don't have a great track record with regard to racial sensitivity, like. Not to tarnish an individual with the same brush as others without hearing them out, but as much as it may be a language thing, it's also potentially an attitude thing. And that guy should be better than that in his position, like you said. It's the old Suarez, South American language/culture thing, isn't it. Where are the lines drawn with regard to language and intent? I know Romania is a different country to South American countries, but I have a few South American mates and every one of them fiercely defended Suarez in the Evra incident. And I'm sure would if you brought it up with them now. Explaining it in a similar way as you have about your experiences in Korea.

Segun Oluwaniyi
I hate football at times like. Millwall and then this. It would take a fool to think that no random supporters would react negatively to the player's political statement before the matches. This is normal. Genuinely stunned that we have CL-level referees with no understanding of how to be culturally sensitive regarding these things with the players. Even saying "the black guy" is out of order. Obviously yes. By Western multicultural standards it isn't great at all. But living in Korea I experienced 'the white guy' and 'the foreigner'. 'The black guy' would certainly be used commonly too I have no doubt. UEFA however should surely be vetting their officials on stuff like this to make sure every one of them are singing from the same hymn sheet if they're going to ref on the biggest stage. I've spent a lot of time in Russia, which has similar profile, and you are correct, much of this is cultural difference, but it is hard to be sympathetic with a referee in this situation. He is not a random Romanian. It is his job to interact with footballers, many of whom are Black or of African descent and will speak little Romanian. You cannot rise to the top of the profession and have so little understanding. It's been a forefront issue in football for fifteen years now. Mistake, language issue, or whatever it is, this is part of your job and he has failed miserably. Barcelona are the most laboured side I've ever seen. I do not think Dest is necessarily a great player, but he stands out massively just for having a bit of pace and aggression in his play. Awful side. Everything slow, midfield incredibly soft, defense full of errors and unathletic, a Messi that has seemingly lost that ability to finish or shoot. Hard to imagine them this poor. Adam
Barca saved by the offside. Why you would let Suarez leave is beyond me, even if they bring in Xavi next year as boss the whole team looks a shambles.

Very strange from Ole to take off Telles, then Shaw and replacing him with our worst full back.
