Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Recommended Posts

Still remember years ago being at a lose end one Wednesday afternoon and decideded to have a walk along to watch the U18s play at Little Benton which is just a 5 minute walk away.

Leaving the house my next door neighbour was in his front garden and asked where I was off to. Told him where and he said "keep an eye out for a young lad called Elliot Anderson. He's only 16 but he's some player and he's starting to play in the U18s. He used to play with my young 'un. He's unbelievable!"

He came on as a sub in the 2nd half and did well, especially considering he was up against lads mainly older than him but even then you'd never believe that 6 or so years later he'd be getting successive MOTM awards for England!

Wish we hadn't been forced to sell him although then again maybe he wouldn't have had the same opportunities to develop here as he's had at Forest. Anyway great to see a local lad doing so well.

I still credit Howe for a lot of his development. Howe took a young lad that was tearing it up in an attacking role. Realised he probably wasn't sharp/quick enough to do that at the highest level. But took his physicality up a few levels. Moved him deep and central and brought that classic Howe tenacity and sharpness.

It's funny because I actually thought he was held back from developing here by being shunted out to the left wing in his few appearances. He's thrived since being allowed to play more centrally. Not that it was anyone's fault, he just had too many players in front of him here. PSR is a destroyer of ambitious clubs.

There were a ton on here that didn’t rate him above championship level at best. You’ll likely find a number who are saying similar things about Miley right now

Always had the talent if not for injuries he’d have featured more for us as I think Howe had confidence in him. Some argue he’d not reach these levels with us due to lack of game time but I don’t think that would have been an issue due to the amount of games we had. Just shit PSR forced his sale.

Eddie seems to have confidence in Miley as well and I think he will reach these levels if not further.

Have to admit I didn't see him becoming a big player in the PL.

TBF my memory isn't the best but I can't remember seeing anything that suggested he get as good as he has so quickly. You'd probably need to have seen him every day in training for that.

He needs to get out of there the first chance he gets. They'll only go one way under Ange.

Man Utd probably not the best destination right now but eventually they'll appoint someone who gets them settled. Could be a decent move for him.

Very few thought he would be in contention to start for England at the World Cup 2026 with everyone fit. Definitely in the squad.

His development has been tremendous and better than I thought.

He was rated higher than Osula is now but not considerably more by our fans. Most were happy if £35m was the real sale price. It's already a bargain.

Keep the faith, sure, they’ve got the money to turn it around but while the Glazers and King Rat are there, it ain’t getting better for them

If they appoint a Sirtain someone, I'm sure things will pick up.

Well I did think he was running into a wall when he was here, but he was playing out wide which wasn't really his game. It's not like Howe wanted to sell him either, this was forced on us by the cartel and their appointed rule enforcers. Villa have also seen their squad decimated for the same reasons. It's like being run by a third world dictatorship.
