Manchester United 3-1 Newcastle United - 21/02/2021 - post match p21

Really poor. Badly missing Cavani as Martial is genuinely awful. James offers nothing as Lewis has enough pace to stop the run in behind. Greenwood won't be far away.

The midfield can't string a pass together and is lost without McTominay and Pogba.

If Almiron was stuck on Maguire we'd be in a lot more trouble.

Very frustrating how we're always terrible first half.

It’s clear neither Joelinton or Gayle have a clue how to play the role Wilson was playing. There’s nobody in front of Almiron when he gets the ball. So annoying because Man U have been really, really shit.

Decent half. Man U aren’t anywhere near their standard. If we kept the press up we could get something but there doesn’t look like the belief is there apart from Miggy. It looks so half arsed at times and then organised at others. For what it’s worth I think Joelinton has been decent in that wide forward role Jones has our strikers playing now. Levels away from Wilson mind but he’s shading Gayle.

I’m expecting nothing but this game is there for us to get something from.

If Joelinton goes off surely Fraser has to come on and not Gayle?

Tbh Joelinton has been quite important defending set pieces.

ManU has been poor. Just whipping it in to box from left or James running blindly on the right.

It's been reasonably okay. Still absolutely zero semblance of an attacking plan and the goal was basically all Maxi; forced the corner with a decent speculative effort then buried the difficult chance. Him being fit basically guarantees survival.

Other than that we've offered absolutely fuck all and should be grateful that ManU have been so lethargic.
