I doubt the test has any text relating to something that this could be applied to. Basically the test is not fit for purpose
Wallsendmag
Isn't football awful at the moment? We've spent far more time in the past year talking about corruption, greed, and court cases than we have anything on the pitch. The actual game (on the field) almost feels incidental these days. Nowadays we seem to be taking more about off the field events, probably nowhere more than at Newcastle tbh. Certainly I'd say the 3 most talked about topics on here are the 2 takeover ones and the Mike Ashley thread.
Kanj
At the end of the day, the test is not fit for purpose. The lack of transparency or constant application is flat out negligent. The league has long become a victim of catering to the top end clubs and tv partners. The test should be about business plan, liquidity, and recourse if something happens under their ownership that they can’t cure via money/fine or penalty via increased regulation on how they conduct business. They should not be attempting to play politics like they have done with us. They should not allow owners to break away and form their own super league or owners to bleed a club dry. They should not allow their owners to encumber a club with highly levered and expensive debt. That’s the role of the league. They need to punish the 6 with the kitchen sink. RS
The fact can’t be lost on Masters that he’s tried to do the big 6 a favour by wrecking our takeover and they’ve absolutely pissed on his cornflakes in return. If it was me I’d have waved the deal through as soon as the super league shite came out. Can’t help think this will have played into our hands. It has, in fact that it fell apart probably had more to do with the “big 6” lobbying other clubs to kick off about it as it did about BeIn or Qatar. There’s not a chance those clubs will be in a position to approach anyone in the near future. It would be a great time to push this through as there’s so much other more newsworthy stuff happening that all the negative press that would normally come our way could only be a fraction this time. Yorkie
If the hitch is still separation between PIF/the state then I don't see how the events of the last 72 hours has any sway on the takeover at all, tbh.

Agree. And to be honest, the government could legitimately get involved in this now...in full glow of the media...and force it through, playing on the clear evidence that the game is bent, controlled by a cartel and in need of serious reform. And there would be nothing any of the shysters in the media could say against it. The evidence is irrefutable. We said last summer there was a cabal of owners controlling the game and the evidence is now out there for everyone to see.

The ODT is in tatters now. It is literally a joke. Nothing in it should be taken remotely seriously. Unless of course the six clubs get the punishment that the rules state they should. If the 6 can break the ODT rule B.17.c and not be kicked out of the league in the annual ODT review(yeah right). Then the PIF should just buy us regardless of the ODT, as it has no consequence. Consortium of one
Credence has been given to Stavely's claims that the big 6 had undo influence on the takeover. It's now clear to everyone that the Big 6 want to limit their competition. ODT tests need review and there has to be a watchdog to guard against any influence that goes against "one team, one vote"

There's only a hitch because they wanted one and they wanted one partly because the big 6 don't want the competition and partly because of the beIN piracy issue. In the other similar case of being faced with a legal loophole obscuring the real owner of Crystal Palace they've just said 'fair enough', when they could and should by their rules have disqualified the directors for failing to provide that information. Although issues still remain to be fully resolved beIN have clearly mellowed in their stance because we're not getting the negativity from people connected to them that we were before, so if the big 6's influence has been affected by this it could potentially pave the way to the PL saying 'fair enough' and settling our case. There is logic in this, but the whole takeover saga has made no sense whatsoever so I’m still thinking even with this ESL fiasco occurring that it won’t change anything
