Wallsendmag Posted April 3, 2023 Share Posted April 3, 2023 Remember at one point it was a toss up between signing him or that lad from Sevilla who Aston Villa signed (can't remember his name) and I was absolutely desperate for Botman because of his age, his physical stature which is perfect for this league, and that I'd seen him live playing for Lille and just thought he looked an absolute class act. So happy we got him. Hope he's here another 10 years With hindsight it worked out well getting neither as we got Burn who was enough to get us clear then play this season. Seemed like Burn was struggling with judgement and botman looked like his vision was obstructed too. Can't explain what he is doing otherwise! Quietly epitomized our turnaround. Once he had a better idea of his speed he had him figured out. First half he didn't seem to realise or have a good idea of how quick the striker was. Quality defender. Love the fact that he doesn't fall to pieces when he makes a mistake, but instead seems to adjust and get better from there onwards.
