loki679
You don't think ten £40m players would see us top 6?
timeEd32
The gap from 17th/18th to 9th/10th is really not that big. Certainly doesn't take 400m. You really just need a solid 11, a reasonable squad, and a manager that knows what he's doing. To consistently go up from there is a whole different ballgame. Assuming this would be spent over 2/3 seasons then if we do stay up, then next season is going to be extremely exciting even if it ends with nothing but good memories. wyn davies
Think there may well be premier league clubswho have to push to boat out to compete but will leave them in financial trouble. Those championship clubs looking for promotion will have major probs just trying to remain in the PL

arnonel
£400M Would you rather have 10x £40M players , or 20 x £20M players Edited January 27, 2022 by arnonel

nufcjmc
We all know you can blow 400+ million and get no where fast just have to look at Everton. Wise and continual improvement in areas needed and getting rid of aging and none performer's is how you build a squad with a boat load of luck mixed in. Every other club in that top 6 currently will be improving and they already have better squads. If no other clubs spent any money whatsoever then it's do able. Right now, there are arguably 9 clubs are are capable of getting a top 6 finish. I think it is crazy talk, but i am no expert mind. Wonder if they'll relocate from the current place to somewhere near Ponteland or similar. Hopefully they can make it Adam P proof.

Guest HTT II
Exactly, half a billion to be a top ten club. However, I think if we spent that over a few seasons, we’d be a top 4 club, especially under the right manager. Everton have shown, though, money alone doesn’t guarantee anything really. relámpago blanco
400M would surely have us challenging the top 4 in a few years. If not, it's not a worthwhile investment from the Saudis because that would have been a 700M investment by them and we wouldnt be worth 700M if we finished 8th every season. That's because they bought a lot of shite. https://www.transferleague.co.uk/premier-league-last-five-seasons/transfer-league-tables/premier-league-table-last-five-seasons I didn't realise Brighton had such a big net spend. I always think of them overperforming but with that spend they are under performing.
gdm
Anyone think there will be a surprise come deadline day or are we just looking to do the Bakker, Guimaraes & burn deals with a possibility of revisiting lingard?
GeordieDazzler
Everton have spent a lot of money but you always felt they were going for players that weren't quite good enough or had been cast off at bigger clubs. James, Iwobi, Walcott, Mina, Gomez etc etc had all shown they weren't the blue chip players by the time they signed for Everton. Was always going to end this way.
