Ziyech is class, don’t know much about him from a character perspective but technically he’s excellent. Don’t know if we could tempt him here but hopefully we’re exploring it

At a loose end so thought Id put together my own little squad refresh...

 

We currently have:

 

  • Dubs, Darlow, Gillespie, Woodman

 

  • Burn, Clark, Dummet, Fede, Kraft, Lascelles, Lewis, Manquillo, Ritchie, Schar, Targett, Tripps

 

  • Almiron, Joelinton, Fraser, Bruno, Hayden, Longstaff, Shortstaff, Murphy, Shelvey, Willock, Billy

 

  • Gayle, Maxi, Wilson, Wood

 

Obviously this isnt the 25 man squad so this list needs trimming before we even get to that. So we get rid of (Sell/loan/release):

 

  • Darlow, Woodman

 

  • Clark, Ritchie, Lewis

 

  • Hayden, Shortstaff, Billy

 

  • Gayle,

This removes 9 players and gives us a first team squad of 22:

 

  • Dubs, Gillespie,

 

  • Burn, Dummet, Fede, Kraft, Lascelles, Manquillo, Schar, Targett, Tripps

 

  • Almiron, Joelinton, Fraser, Bruno, Longstaff, Murphy, Shelvey, Willock,

 

  • Maxi, Wilson, Wood

From this squad of 22, who do we bring in and who do we replace:

 

  • GK: Dubs, Gillespie, *new 2nd choice keeper*

 

  • LB:  Targett, *new left back*, CB: Burn, Schar, Lascelles, *Fede replaced with new centre back*, Dummet, RB: Kraft, Manquillo, Tripps,

 

  • LW: Maxi, CM: Joelinton, Bruno, Longstaff, *Shelvey replaced with new centre midfielder*, Willock, RW: Almiron, *Murphy replaced with new right winger*, Fraser,

 

  • FW: Wilson, Wood, *new striker*

Thats got to be over £100M spent just there. And looking at the players in their positions, it looks slightly unbalanced at full back and LW, RW positions.

 

As its gonna take a couple of windows to fine tune the squad balance, we hang on to Lascelles, Manq, and Almiron at least for the season ahead.

Forest going up creates potential moves for Lascelles and Darlow / Woodman. Cooper had Woodman at Swansea and the other two are obviously ex-Scabs who would have bring much needed PL experience to the squad. Who could resist the chance to link up with the Ginger Pirlo again?

Anyways, it’s silly season so enjoy the speculating, some of it will actual come true now we have owners who actually want us to do something. 

 

Well we are supposedly chasing Ekiteke, he looks about as physical as a bag of candy floss. I like Nketiah, he seems to have a real striker's instinct, but whether he's proven at this level is the only question mark.

Good point about tone, it's important we pay market value for our first player or we'll suffer like we did in January when we overpaid for Wood early doors which meant other clubs upped their valuations.

Not really a rumour or anything, but I enjoyed this quote from Norway manager Ståle Solbakken about the Mbappe transfer: "It surely wasn't between just Real Madrid and PSG, he'd have all the biggest clubs in the world after him. Clubs like Man City, Barcelona, Juventus, Newcastle and more would have been on high alert when a player of that quality was available."
