Cheers, he does look handy like and players from Portugal do tend to do well in the PL. He’d obviously be a big upgrade on Frazer, Murphy and Almiron. It’s a yes from me Clive, I’d prefer Sarr mind.

So Edward claims you need to have two quality players in each position. Surely on that alone, we'll be signing a midfielder?

Not necessarily. He might just be explaining why we won't be reaching our goals yet.

Probably a daft question but this isn't typical for us, is it? Going round clubs during the summer window scooping up loads of young talent? This Ashworth's craic?

Seems likely.

Based upon my understanding that we need players who've been at the club for 3 years before age 21, it would appear as though we're working on challenging Europe in 3-4 years. it's easy to say "Qualify for Europe as soon as possible" but we need to be ready for it, otherwise it might damage our progress in the league.

Yeah we'll probably be able to buy our way out of any situation by then, but for now I'm being pragmatic.

Don't think the press know for sure who is in for him and so have been linking him to lots of clubs. Our link to him was from back in March, when we were apparently scouting him at lots of Porto games, and because we have prioritised that position and his release clause is in line with what we bid for Diaby, I'm thinking we might be going for him as an alternative option. We should find out soon though, as the clause expires on the 15th of July.

Doesn't score many goals - we need goals.

A finisher is useless if nobody is providing the chances.

A right sided forward is priority now and hopefully Elliott will be pushing Maxi all the way, he needs to raise his game.. he needs to realise that playing the simple pass is better than beating those extra 2 defenders and then losing the ball.

It would be nice to get another midfielder in but I can’t see anything other than Joelinton, Shelvey and Bruno starting, if we’re less wasteful up top we could be a very strong side.

Bit yes we need a mobile forward to cover for Wilson

He's had a few interviews with him and fair play, he's asking decent questions in front of a camera and a crowd of people, he's done well to keep his nerve.

Agreed - he needs to invest in a microphone though

He can barely string a sentence together and his mashing up of words is painful to watch.

Enough about Downie, what about Adam?

The lad needs a director, if he's going to be front and centre, he just needs someone to tell him what isn't working, and where to stand, his posture, no mic, camera distance, people roaming around in the background, it just looks amaature, but I admire him, because he's clearly passionate about Newcastle and hes persistent.

With time he will get there.

Yeah this pretty much sums it up for me. I can't hate on someone trying to make a living out of there passion, as cringe as he can be sometimes. But he will only get less cringe over time.
