wormy
Wanted him in January when we were desperate. Would've taken him in the summer if the club saw fit but was happy to miss out for the money he wanted. Fine to never see us linked to him again. We clearly are properly coached, the players are motivated and we have so much positivity around this club. Same goes for DCL, who yes has been injury prone and fallen off badly, but there is no way to say he couldn't have been fantastic under Howe. Probably spot on. Him going there not showing any proper hunger says a thing or two about his character though. Money is more important for him than playing and achieving something. He is not a youngster anymore. AyeDubbleYoo
I guess if you think a 'top team' doesn't want you, you might decide to focus on getting the most money from whoever you can.

True, personally I think he would have been better off trying to find some middle ground between top teams and Notthingham. He would have earned slightly less maybe. However, say that he earns a lot in one year like now but does badly in a poor team then my guess is that in the long term he will earn less then he would if he had gone to somewhere like say West Ham. I don’t see any top teams wanting him. Neither will he get even close to the wage he gets now. Probably will get less than he was offered by various teams before this season. HaydnNUFC
Wanted him in January on loan when we had 2 wins after 21 games. Once safety was secured, our sights were rightly turned elsewhere to better.
1964
I'd pretty much guarantee that Howe would have him coached and playing better than he is at forest

Kanj
I would have loved the Lingard who was fantastic for West Ham, the current version of him is really really poor. Look unfit and unmotivated.

Yea, Howe versus the German Tank Commander isn't apples to apples.
Holloway
May have been an asset in our relegation scrap, simply doesn't fit the profile now we"re ob the surge
Wolfcastle
I thought getting him in Jan would have nailed on our survival but as a panic buy that thereafter could be a problem wage/age-wise and someone who is on a steep downward trajectory not matching our clubs. Wages wise and unsettling possible effects, I think we'd have got better use out of him and might be a 1% or two better than we are now, but overall was never worth it on the face of it. Ronaldo
His attitude is a total wrong fit for us. Would’ve been a good acquisition in January but we can be far more selective now.

BonesJones
Getting mugged off by Man U was enough of a reason for this to be a big NO! Don't think he cares for the game personally.
duo
Let's face it - things were desperate in Jan but come Summer when the dust had settled it was a relief he didn't sign.
Pata
5 hours ago, TheInfiniteOdyssey said: I think the big issue for Forest is that he’s signed a year deal, so he couldn’t really care less if they go down because he’ll be away anyway. Perhaps that’s reflected in his performances to date. I think it was a great deal for Forest. Lingard has to do well if he wants to earn anywhere near 200k a week ever again. Forest got a proven theoretically highly motivated player basically for just the wages without further ties. For some reason it hasn't worked so far but it's too early to write either Forest or Lingard off IMO.
HawK
Money aside, no doubt as part of a 3 in the middle he'd have been at least useful. You can't tell me he'd not have been better than the Longstaff or Willock. Now though, not a chance. We're not fighting relegation, we want to push on and he's a yesterday player like Alli. JumpersForGoalposts
He's completely given up on the game. I wouldn't be surprised if he does a David Bentley and quits when it turns out no one is willing to offer him anywhere near what he earns now at the end of this season. Unrecoverable IMO, although I think he was massively overrated when he was 'good'. Edited October 5, 2022 by JumpersForGoalposts

Happinesstan
I would have signed him in January on half his Man U salary. I think I heard he and Trippier are friends. I would have signed him in the summer at 1/3 his Man U salary. Fuck giving him more because he's a freebie. I would have been wrong.
