Looks like Villa have no money for next season. Going to be a very interesting season down there.

Seems to be a true story in the papers that. They'll regret buying all those bang average Championship players now. Can see them lingering midtable again next season.

Would be fucking brilliant if they did - as well as the Mackems. Think Villa will win the league though, still got some very good players who will surely gel after a pre season together.

They vastly improved after signing those bang average players like.

Not sure how that is possible when they bought most of them in the summer. What did they improve on?

If you're referring to the players that came in during January. Aye, they vastly improved from 12th position on 2nd January, to 13th position at the end of the season.

Assumed you were on-about January as that was Bruce's first window with them - before that they were obviously a mess, still though in the summer the Championship players they signed were McCormack, Tshibola & Kodjia. McCormack was a dreadful signing but Kodjia looks great and Tshibola was only 21 last season. In January they signed Hourihane, Hogan, Bree and Lansbury which is a good coup for any Championship side - Hourihane especially is one of the best midfielders in the league. They took a little time to click after the window but Villa were clearly a lot better towards the end of the season than they were in the first, barring the slight honeymoon period they went through when Bruce first arrived.

Aye I think Villa will be better next season, although they finished 13th it's clear that Bruce has had some bad apples to get rid of (McCormack in particular) as well as get an almost entirely new team to gel. A pre-season with no shenanigans around players leaving will help no end but that Dr Tony character seems a bit of a loose cannon.

I wonder how this latest setback will impact upon his desire to make Aston Villa one of the biggest clubs in the world inside 5 years.

Conte by a mile surely!

It should be Conte, but Clement could be in with a shout imo, he managed to turn around a team that was looking like it was going to go down without a fight, was below Sunderland, and had won 2 games in 18 to stay up.
