Was thinking of players teams sold early because they thought they had got the most out of a player’s lifespan.

For us Gary Speed - Newcastle to Bolton. Played another four years. Eight goals at 36-37 for Bolton

Solano - both times. Was one of West Ham’s best players 07/08. We could have used that

Gary Cahil - Villa to Bolton.

Johnny Evans - Man U to West Brom

Albrighton - Villa to Leicester

Kouyate - West Ham to Crystal Palace

How do the bottom 4 fit what your saying ? A 23 year old Gary Cahill moving to Bolton? Probably hundreds of examples of young players moving and getting better elsewhere

Gary McAllister perhaps. Coventry seemingly happy to let him go on a free and he did well for Liverpool. Klose had a good few seasons in Italy after leaving Bayern, probably could still have done a job. Defoe for sure, Spurs let him go for a low fee to Toronto, didnt play there long and he was back before long banging in 15 league goals a season for a shite Sunderland side.

Its hard to say though, often players look like they're on the decline then new surroundings give them a late second wind.

Johnny Evans was about 27 wasn't he when left? not exactly young

But would you say Man U felt they got the utmost out of him and never thought he’d get better so sold him on and signed Rojo or whoever? Mistake by Man U as they’ve spent big when they probably should have kept him around.

Thought of another one - Abdoulaye Faye us to Stoke.

I think you need to find a new criteria as I can't see how Abdoulaye Faye fits into this

Faye was good for a good couple of seasons after we sold him, like. He was one I was thinking of.

I thought he fell out with KK not that we thought we'd got the most out of him and we needed to move him on

Unless it's a small club selling to a bigger club I'm not entirely sure what the criteria is here

Guest Cheesy Beans

I think he’s asking for players who were sold because their club thought they’d turned to shit, but they rejuvenated their career at the new club?

The list provided makes no sense to the question though.

Surely the best recent example in England is Milner who has picked up a title and a European Cup since being released by Man City. Also Pirlo.

I was going to say Milner but he turned down a bigger contract at Man City to the one he signed at Liverpool.
