ponsaelius
We've been absolutely done on the fee when you consider other transfers and the overall striker market. We've undoubtedly been put in a very difficult position by the player and his agent which has drove down the price, but it still feels like a massive capitulation to me. And if we don't get a replacement in... Christ.

TK-421
Flipside to this being done (well, agreed and the ball in motion) in the early hours, is that at least we have the full day to pursue other deals knowing exactly where we stand, as tight as that may be given our history on deadline day itself. We may well end up overspending slightly for another forward, but it is what it is. We must do what we can to bring another one in today. Shearergol
Our transfer “budget” was always going to be based around Isak going now or next summer. You can’t really read much into that. We can sell livramento or Tonali next year to keep the train running. Exciting times we live in.

Just depends on what happens later today. If that’s true then with the loyalty bonus usually 10%……….if we sold for 150m, but had to pay loyalty bonus it puts overall price closer to what we are selling at……..don’t want Liverpool or Isak to be seen as getting a bargain. STM
For all those critical of ownership, what did you want them to do? Keep Isak for a year and still get less money next year (and it would have likely been 110m then) and risk having a sulky cunt in the squad? The criticism cant be for selling, it has to be for whether they get another striker.

And yes, bare in mind we amortise more of his fee by selling next year meaning we can take less then. Sometimes you have to show your minerals man and we've rolled over here. The College Dropout
12 minutes ago, Shadow Puppets said: Errr… one of the two purchases has very little to do with the Isak money, though. We were always going to spend £50m ish on a striker this summer, and had the budget to do it, regardless of the Isak money. So in theory Isak going for £130m, and us signing a striker today for £50-£60m still leaves plenty for the future? i dont know if thats true. But If we don’t sign that second player today - what good is the money? The margins are thin. if we get in 2 quality players today that will change the mood music. I already expect 1 of them to be a middling talent.
