We've been absolutely done on the fee when you consider other transfers and the overall striker market.

 

We've undoubtedly been put in a very difficult position by the player and his agent which has drove down the price, but it still feels like a massive capitulation to me.

Flipside to this being done (well, agreed and the ball in motion) in the early hours, is that at least we have the full day to pursue other deals knowing exactly where we stand, as tight as that may be given our history on deadline day itself.

We may well end up overspending slightly for another forward, but it is what it is. We must do what we can to bring another one in today.

Our transfer “budget” was always going to be based around Isak going now or next summer. You can’t really read much into that. 
 

We can sell livramento or Tonali next year to keep the train running. Exciting times we live in.

Yes, because it isn't another money. The money is the kick in the teeth, the principle is what has floored us. 

 

And yes, bare in mind we amortise more of his fee by selling next year meaning we can take less then.
