The College Dropout Posted Thursday at 11:26 Share Posted Thursday at 11:26 Unfortunately, Ian Wright being a part of the women's game and advocating for it in men's spaces has a massive positive influence on the sports growth (not massive but you get it). Wrighty did a podcast I would occasionally listen to. He would talk about women's football on there. That brings the sport to a new audience. I wouldn't have listened otherwise. Saying that - I mostly skipped those parts

Hanshithispantz Posted Thursday at 11:49 Share Posted Thursday at 11:49 (edited) She obviously meant 1 goal every other game but ofcourse a presenter is going to get ripped to bits for that Edit: ah that was 3 years ago and we're now talking about something else Edited Thursday at 11:56 by Hanshithispantz
Hanshithispantz Posted Thursday at 12:02 Share Posted Thursday at 12:02 Cannot really see the issue with her comments like, if Ian Wright disagreed then what exactly has he been advocating for?

Is she there because she's the best, most qualified person available? If not, isn't she blocking an up-and-coming male pundit from coming through? Bimpy474 Posted Thursday at 13:31 Share Posted Thursday at 13:31 And, Ian Wright has only ever done the punditry on one single womens league match, he's done the International team a lot, but he's not there all the time like she is making out. She moans her punditry work has dropped and blames Barton, and now Wright. I would say it's because she's just not very good, nowt to do with anything else. Hanshithispantz Posted Thursday at 14:25 Share Posted Thursday at 14:25 She was speaking on a 'Women's Hour' show, I assume where women talk about feminism and shite. "I’ve worked with Ian a long time and, you know, I think he’s a brilliant broadcaster, but I think he’s aware of just how much he’s doing in the women’s game. I think he should be aware of that." "The fact of the matter is, there is a limited amount of spaces available. If we had a situation where there was an equal opportunity in the men’s game for broadcasters and coaches that there is in the women’s game, it’s a free for all." "But that’s not the case. I can’t dominate the men’s game in the way that, you know, you used Ian as an example." "I think we need to be conscious and we need to make sure that women are not being blocked from having a pathway into broadcasting in the women’s game." It reads like she's responding to a question using Wright as an example of something I'm assuming she would have been talking about (either on the show or before) it doesn't sound like she's just started blasting Ian Wright and throwing accusations about
Stifler Posted Thursday at 14:28 Share Posted Thursday at 14:28 (edited) When she was playing, women’s football was nowhere near the level it as at now, so no one had really heard of her until the Mark Sampson bullying case. If she was bullied upon her race, which there is no reason to doubt considering she had people saying similar, and because he was accused of much the same later on, then that’s not on. She has clearly seen it as an MO though. In all my time of seeing her on TV, she has absolutely nothing to add. She has no insight, no charisma, nothing. The same applies for Leanne Sanderson, absolutely fucking woeful and neither of them do anything to help women in the industry. There has been a few on SSN and that the likes of BBC have used who have been rather decent and insightful, and suddenly they are not seen of again, or certainly don’t get much of an opportunity like them two do. mighty__mag Posted Thursday at 15:10 Share Posted Thursday at 15:10 Not sure why people worry about comparing themselves to Barton etc, if a person male or female is saying stupid shit, and you think they're a dick, that's absolutely fine. She has a habit of making ridiculous claims, suggesting that Mikel Arteta 'asked Pep Guardiola to put a £90m bid in to push Arsenal's owners'. When buying Declan Rice I think. Can't get on board with people like this at all, whereas Jill Scott is a lovely lass, Mackem but lovely.

Turnbull2000
Real Madrid being a despicable club part 94... https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/apr/25/copa-del-rey-final-referee-breaks-down-in-wake-of-real-madrid-tv-criticism Quote Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, the referee for Saturday’s Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona, was brought to tears on Friday, responding to a critical video published by Real’s in-house TV channel (RMTV). The video, released on Thursday, shows what RMTV claims is a series of errors made by De Burgos throughout his career. The release is the latest in a string of edits by RMTV, criticising Spanish officials.
