Shouldn't be a case where we have to score 2 more than the opposition just to get the right outcome though?

Didn’t say that though did I?

Just need to go out there and make clear-cut, no question, chances and goals. And get it done.

It’s Newcastle vs Everyone let’s get it.

But we've done enough to win a penalty at Wolves, score a second at Liverpool, score against Palace. We shouldn't need a second-third goal on top just to cancel out referees not doing their job?

Chelsea at home is the last game before the World Cup.

am I doing this right in that we should be getting 18 points between now and then, so an opportunity to gain up to 12 on what’s required?

It really is fucking sods law that we are sitting in September and we already have 2 long term injuries, one to a starter in Shelvey, and 3 knocks all to key players. You couldn't have hand picked worse injuries TBH.

I suppose we should be thankful that we have a good manager and a solid squad, which means we can pick up points and put in decent performances anyway.

Give me Bruno back for a sustained run FFS, points will come flying in.

Im not worried in the slightest, we are competing in every game , we arent going to go down and the football is front foot .

We look like we have a modern style and press like fuck.

oh what a change from 1 year ago , loving the football now I have a club that tries.

Still looking good to me, the defence looks solid, Pope is doing great, and our attack is fifth top in shots despite playing both City and Liverpool.

Match officials have cost us a few points and I would say a couple of injuries, but it's still a decent start and bodes well for the games to January, when more additions can be made.

Strange start the season for a lot of sides. Had considered Wolves, Villa, Brighton, Leicester and West Ham to be our main rivals for top 10 if you ignore the big 6. So far only Brighton have started really well.

Performances have deserved more points than we've got and if Maxi and Bruno are back and can stay fit until the WC there's nothing to suggest we won't be right up there.

It's a fair point. While it feels disappointing to have only picked up a couple of points after the opening day win since then, there is still only a couple of points separating all the teams realistically chasing 7th. We do need a win or two in the next few fixtures though, just to stay in the pack. It might all look a lot better after the international break with Maxi, Bruno and hopefully Wilson back.

The improvements on expected goals, shots, touches in opp box, passes into opp box and possession are staggering considering the injuries and the fact that we've already played against Man City and Liverpool. All those stats yet we are still looking rock solid defensively, Howe is doing an amazing job.

Matter of time before we pummel someone at SJP. Bournemouth in 2 weeks when we have our best players back for sure is my shout.

I like stats, xG included, but 2.83 xG vs. Palace flatters us. It's more than Brighton got vs. Leicester. A one-nil for the goal wrongly disallowed would have been a fair reflection.

As a whole, we're doing better and the results will come.

We need to start getting some wins now and be in the mix for 7th come January. An addition at right wing, Shelvey coming back to give us a bit more cover in midfield (never thought I'd say that) and maybe 1 or 2 more players signed for squad depth and I think we'll get there.

I think you have to take into account the first half battering they had for about 20 minutes. Miggy hit post, Botman twice, Longstaff header, Isak chance. This is where they get their metrics from.

Even in the second half Willock could have had a couple.
