JumpersForGoalposts
Bookies have us as 3rd favourites to win the league above everyone but Man City and Arsenal. Feels like an important moment for us.

Don't think there's a doubt that Chalabah red card at Fulham kick started things. We were playing well but couldn't buy a win up to that game. Armchair Pundit
The great thing is, like when Leicester won the league, nobody, including us fans, are expecting anything this season. I'm not suggesting a league title, just a comparison that the team can play each game at a time without pressure and anything that comes of it at the end of the season is a bonus. In the meantime us fans can enjoy the ride, it's mental and a great time to be one of our supporters, baffling and exciting - we've all known what this club can get to with the right running, if this is the start then holy shit we're in for some fun! BennyBlanco
I just hope that the top brass will capitalise on our position and strengthen in January. Another midfielder and a couple of upgraded defenders would be mega. I’ve 100% faith in them to do it btw. What a time to be a toon fan.
Nine
For anyone else that was born after the Keegan era and was to young to remember a lot of Bobbys time, the last 2 months is the best run of results we have ever seen. We are putting the fucking fear of god into any team we come up against, if we come back after the World Cup and carry on anything close to this type of form who knows where we could end up. Wolfcastle
Even an illogical collapse now would still see us exceed what I was placated with, which is most satisfying
STM
If ever there was a time to hoy another 10m on a player of Maddisons calibre, January would be the time to do it. Strike while iron is hot. He wouldn't even need to go straight into the starting 11. Wait until we hit a bump in the road and rotate him and Isak into the starting line up. 4th would be ours. bowlingcrofty
As much as I really enjoyed Longstaff’s performance today, if we stuck Maddison in this team then we’d be an altogether different beast. Bruno, Maddison, Joelinton, Willock, Longstaff and Shelvey all competing for the midfield three would be ridiculous strength in depth.

If we do go after him again and sign him, Maddison replaces Willock, imo.

If we go for him, I think it’s not that simple. Bruno will play the 6 role, Maddison will play an 8/10. And you have 1 of Joelinton, Longstaff or Willock playing the other 8 role. But you could then also drop in Shelvey as a 6 and have Maddison and Bruno as 8’s. Edited November 6, 2022 by Kanji

Any player we sign now becomes part of a squad, a squad that is anticipating European football soon and therefore should expect to be rotated from time to time. Whether it be Joelinton, Willock, Longstaff or a Maddison, they all need to come in to the side on merit and understand they might have sit a game out when tactically required. The only time a set 11 would come into play is when play "big" games and even then Howe might have horses for courses. Not a rant at you Yorkie.
