NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

I could see us getting a young up-and-coming forward, not a mega expensive one but maybe an option to ease the burden on Isak and Wilson even from a minutes played, sub option perspective. All of a sudden against PSG with no Wilson, when Isak took that whack it was Gordon up top and a Murphy or Anderson shoehorned in left. With Wilson's record I could see us trying to cover that.

It felt like I was the only one saying that last Summer.

Finding someone of that profile who's happy to sit around and be a bit part player for 2-3 years is hard to find, when they could be getting good game time at a 7-10th placed club already.. Think we have a good balance with Isak & Wilson, then Gordon and Joelinton who can step in. Don't see many clubs other than Liverpool and City who can top that?

Liverpool and Man City would push one of their wide players up top, which is what we would do with Gordon, rather than having a third choice striker exclusively for that position.

It would make more sense to buy a right sided attacking player that can play up top if needed.

Spurs have had that problem for the last 7/8 years.

You weren’t.

Yep, but who have we got in the juniors coming through?, is the next young superstar forward already in the club and just needs a bit of uncle Eddie's magic working on him?

As others have said we will struggle to get someone of that profile for the bench, but I wish we had spotted Fergison from Brighton a year or two ago.

Yep, we're lucky as fuck to have Isak and Wilson. Once Wilson goes it'll be hard to get someone prepared to do what he can, as well as score shitloads.

Be interesting to see who/what we go for in January. Lascelles recent form probably reduces the urgency to bring in a right sided CB back up/eventual Schar replacement unless a top target becomes available in Jan. I wouldnt be surprised if we brought in some kind of attacking player either a younger striker or winger type. I do think we’ll eventually bring in a new proper right winger who can break open games, nick something in a big or tight fixtures but that’ll probably be next summer.

I would imagine over the next two windows they will look at RW, another striker, maybe a defensive midfielder option, right CB. I think the squad after next summer will be starting to look how the club envisaged things.

You probably have to take a punt on someone from South America or with a relatively unknown profile for ~£10m. Then if they're class, Wilson's replacement is sorted, if not it isn't any harm done or a big hole in FFP.

For me, I’d still say a LB is priority. Yes Burn has done very well lately and we have Hall to come in eventually, but we still have 1 or 2 players tracking back hard to cover Burn most games. Gordon for example is great tracking back, but I and I’m sure most others would want him at the other end of the pitch more. Hall won’t be ready for a while as much as I’d love him to be.

Whatever happens, I’ve got full trust in Eddie and Dan Ashworth to get whoever we need in. Feels so weird saying that after years of horrible transfer policy by Ashley and to a certain extent Fat Fred.

I'm less of a Dan Burn fan than most but I think the idea that we'll bring in another first team LB is a bit fanciful.

It's Burn's spot for now, with Targett backing him up. As soon as Hall has had time to bed in fully, he'll take over.

Think we'll see Hall starting regularly by the end of the season, personally.

Even if we do have more financial power next summer, I'd imagine we'll stick with our policy of bringing in three or four players rather than making major changes to the squad.

Ideal window would be an absolute top class CB and winger.

Todibo and Kvaratskhelia, for instance.

After that, a really top class striker prospect. Someone who isn't going to need to start regularly yet but we see as a successor to Wilson that can co-exist in the squad with for a year or two. Would be ideal if said player could also play out wide a bit too.

Those three additions and no major outgoings and we'd have a squad that could do some serious damage next season.

Don't think for one second we need another LB  Burn is 1st choice, then Targett and Lewis Hall is the guy we plan on training for that position. It would be nice to go and sign a world class LB but signing Hall basically got rid of that.

I'd be looking at a CB who can play both sides as a priority, then look for a right winger of extreme quality.

Our next attacking signing should be a star, like Isak, Tonali level.

Right sided attacking player MUST be 1st priority. Imo by far. Then a CB. Having said that, we might sign a Cb before depending on player availability.

A striker is going to be essential very soon too. Wilson’s body is just able to sustain even half a season of games. If Isak was injured we’d be reliant on playing Gordon out of position for a lot of games. I love Jow but he’s not a striker

Probably unpopular because he has been very good for us, but I think we'll look at a goalkeeper sooner rather than later. Howe has moved us slightly more towards having more possession this season and Pope really does hinder that. He was visibly annoyed at Pope booting it out of play for the 4th time in a row the other night too.

Wood got plenty of minutes, it felt like right up till he was sold. We're chancing it having only two strikers, esp. when one of them is Wilson. Joelinton and Gordon both leave a hole to fill elsewhere.

Minteh might do it, and its certainly a bonus him getting CL minutes, but not this season. Unthinkable two years ago that we'd have a loan player playing at such high level.

Based on age profile, I suppose next one in should be RCB, RW or Wilson replacement. Trippier's replacement is in already. If FFP is an issue and Saudi are buying, I suppose selling Almiron would be option. Personally, I reckon FFP was definitely a factor in not pursuing earlier interest in Maddison, Pedro, and probably Diaby too. Possibly even Szobo.

Think so too. At the moment I don't see anywhere else on the pitch that would improve us (unless we buy someone experienced but younger than Burn which would stifle the progression of Hall that we just spent 30m or so on) more than a keeper of similar goalkeeping quality to Pope, but with the capability of receiving and passing the ball fairly quickly and accurately with his feet....unless we're prepared to jump into the £70-100m market of players.
