NUFC Transfer Rumours

Who's to say when the psr deadline gets closer and we make our move for say a Villa player, that the top 6 don't think we'll have a piece of that aswell.

Its getting to the point where us "making a move" would be a cause for celebration. A sign of life in the old dog, proof that someone actually has hold of the recruitment reins. The move wouldn't have to be successful to be better than days and days of "NUFC are contemplating...."

There's been too much smoke for Villa to not sell someone, so something will happen there soon. Dat wage bill! If they're not careful, it'll be last minute firesale and buying someone's no-name keeper to not lose Rogers.

I’m not stressed now at all really since it’s so early, but this somehow feels like one of those games you watch where you feel “we’re never gonna score today no matter how long we play for”. Similar gut feeling about signings this summer somehow . Nothing to do with window licker’s tweet. Just a general feeling.  I’m sure we will get players in. Question is how many and how late.

Always felt the window was never going to live up to expectations of many that we sign 5-6 class players. But I cannot forsee a window where we don't do anything, that would be pretty inconceivable and pretty negligent on the club's part.

I think we will do some decent business eventually but it won't be the ideal scenario that Howe spoke about unfortunately of getting them in early.

Probably not even anyone's fault. This summer has just proven so far that PSR is still bullshit and just keeps the "big 6" at the top and they have had first dibs on any players available so it really is a case of having to sit and wait for the big boys to pick and choose what they want and then seeing what's left from the players we have scouted.

IF it happens and it’s only one in before then yeah it’s poor.

I dont blame anyone, but yeah when you see the speed other operates in its poor (not that I trust Ryder or anyone covering this club).

Not really as it's who we've got in by the end of the window that matters.

Obviously that’s what matters the most. Getting them in very late would be far from ideal though and if it’s only one in for pre-season then it’s quite poor. Albeit not the end of the world.

I’ll be quite disappointed if we haven’t brought in our CB and RW in time for the start of pre-season.

They’re the spots that we’re buying what should be immediate first choice players, you want them starting pre season training and bedding in with the team as soon as possible. We know Eddie has a very high standard for fitness before he is comfortable throwing players in there to start, it’s not a disaster but it’s hardly ideal having our key additions starting off a bit behind the others.

How are our closer equivalent clubs doing, such as your Villa's and West Ham's? All the noticeable signing seems to have been by the breakaway clubs with the big money and brand lure. We don't have big money, and whilst our lure is surely much greater than those two clubs, it's probably not great enough to have quality players pushing for a move if we enquire.

So basically people would prefer we pay what clubs are asking to get players in now, even if we know valuations are at their peak because it's early in the window?

Or you'd prefer we pivot to options further down the list that are cheaper just so we can get them in early?

Is this really the approach we should be going with?

Its not impossible to do smart deals early in the window.

A lot of the early deals either involved release clauses, or teams that wanted to add players before the club world cup, either because they were in it, or they were trying to get deals done ahead of other clubs that are in the competition and we're trying to do deals themselves.

Evidently it is, for the players we're interested in.
