I think we don't know whether we can go big on any position right now because we may need to somehow go big on another striker. my thoughts exactly. pause everything and put that shitshow to bed and go from there. I know it doesn't raise our ceiling at all, but it significantly improves the floor, which is all important this season. Pretty good is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. At this point I'd take it but I don't feel it matches ambitions, least if you go by how we felt at the end of the season. Right now I'd take any signing, I just need to remember what it feels like to not be cucked by a cartel club.
Ikon
“Pausing” could also affect the current players in a negative way. Just don’t spend big on a striker as there aren’t that many out there. Strengthen elsewhere big time and get Wissa. I think Thiaw would be a bit underwhelming, feel like a ready to go first choice RCB was needed this summer and he seems to be a bit raw. Outside of that it would be OK aside from the fact that the Isak situation has created a horrible feeling around the club.

Don't let Isak fucking go at this point. there are other important positions to fill. The negligence in decision making from the Dof appointment down is now beyond a joke. I understand wanting to get it right after the Mitchell debacle, but they've absoutely pissed away 2/3 of one the most important summers in recent history for the club. It's not 100% their fault, but feet dragging in some very important areas is pretty apparent at this point. We were told we had a budget to cover all that without any sale. We have sold Longstaff for pure profit. If we sell Isak the big fee on a striker wont matter. No-one is considered, unless they are on "the list" (which must be exhausted by now). There will be other Brunos/Isaks/Botmans overseas.

sempuki
1. DCL for nowt? 2. Jackson for probably £60m plus as well as helping the cartel? I'd probably go for the one wearing heels and a dress.

We're literally crying out for good cover for the midfield three, a link to someone who's spent the last 2 seasons as a regular in a team competing with us, still not good enough. No personal attacks this time, but I'm out. Agreed. Given our need/amount of fixtures and his ability and experience, this would be a sensible move. This one is classified as the ‘not every signing needs to be a potential superstar’ variety of NO transfer rumour reactions.
AyeDubbleYoo
McGinn was about the level of CM I was hoping for TBH. Not him specifically but someone ‘good’ who can cover Joelinton’s role.
Kimbo
Love the idea of Villa flogging McGinn to us so they can fund buying some prospect they’ve scouted. This one has made me lose hope of us sorting our act out. Edited August 6, 2025 by Kimbo
