NUFC Transfer Rumours

"Man Utd make him available for £40m" as if it's a steal for anyone interested

Went back and watched his Sporting highlights as I remember we were linked before he went to PSG thinking he looked quite useful, but with hindsight of seeing some of his cameos in the PL, he's really just a dollar store Scott Parker (the Newcastle version of him).

Can see us signing at least 3 defenders this summer with Trippier and Tino seemingly away.

This SCR in Europe at 70% looks a serious problem for the club going off the financial figure released. I think next season is going to signal a real change and possible transition period if we qualify for any European football.

Think a keeper is the number one priority no matter what and if it means spending 40 million on one we have to do it.

Would also like to see a top right back replace Tino and think Palestra, Givairo Read and Acheampong would be great options and potentially better.

The defence has become a real issue and something like the following would give us real depth and scope to grow going forward:

Risser

Read/Palestra

Acheampong

Methalie

Ugarte isn't that bad. Just a shite environment and wrong move. Players can bounce back and pick their careers up. Wouldn't pay over £20m for him though, think they'll struggle getting their asking price.

If Trippier and Tino are both away and we don't sign a decent right back then we deserve everything we get. We've seemingly known about Tino for a while now and Tripps age was hardly a secret [emoji38]

He is bad (relatively). Lacks too much technically and is rash.

Is he the player whose mam is his agent and she's a total pain in the arse?

You're probably thinking about that French frog. Played for PSG, Juve, Marseille and so on.

Edit: Rabiot

Andreas Christensen available on a free this summer. Wonder if we've looked at him given past links.

I doubt it he's old and his salary is high.

With how open the midfield has been this year I disagree.

On paper you shouldn't need to no, but there's been gaping holes to exploit right through the middle and it's part of the reason the defenders have been more exposed.

If anything I'd argue, for a team in 12th place that nothing should be off the table.

I think a lot depends on what we want Bruno to do. Do we want him at the base of the 3 or do we want him with more freedom to get forward? I’ve always wanted the latter but maybe he has a preference.

I’m expecting to need replacements for Willock and Tonali anyway, I’d be shocked if either are still here in September.

Yeah, I'm with you. Would love a defensive monster in there. Especially with Joelinton and Bruno getting into their 30s now.

Ugarte is at the very top when it comes to winning the ball back, and just keeps it relatively simple with his passing. Could work alongside Bruno who looks to take charge in midfield anyway.

Part of the problem with Ugarte at Man United was that they didn't have a partner alongside him to control in midfield. Casemiro is not that guy and Fernandes is more of a 10 who didn't really work deeper. At PSG he was just completely unsuited to a more possession heavy style.

Alright then. Would you take him 10m?

He makes little sense for us. We dont play with a dedicated DM and if we did we would need someone with more mobility than him. Also he will be wanting a canny wedge.

Just isn't a good fit imo

I do think there's a possibility a change in approach and how the midfield is set up could fix the openness of the midfield.

But I wouldn't rule out looking elsewhere either, either way I think sticking with it as is is probably not a good idea.

Either something changes from within or they look outside to change it. The balance of the midfield (which has affected how we both attack and defend this year) has been completely off.

“…Lautaro Piola from Vélez Sarsfield. The starlet has been compared to Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.”

any word on whether they’re related?
