f*ck sake..we really did do nothing all summer transfer wise.

No CEO, no DoF, taking an age to complete a deal for a GK that agreed to join 12 months ago.

Thank fuck we’ve got Howe.

Players themselves will be chatting to their agent asking WTF is happening with signing players because they will want to be pushing on.

I don’t buy into the idea all is not well behind the scenes. Howe seems to have more control than ever before. It’s debatable we have the necessary experience and skill set behind the scenes to get deals done, but that is a separate issue.

Uncle Mike would've snapped up DCL on a free by now.

Probably leak a cheeky fake sale rumour in August too. Something to get our teeth into.

Plus plenty cheap French & Dutch league players to sell on with a couple of seasons.

Ah right, you're taking utter shite then - got it.

Sorry I assumed you had an inside track since you sounded so definitive.

It really is extraordinary how saying "not all is well behind the scenes", then refusing to spell out every reason why, on the basis that it's an unoffensive fact, engenders such a summarily negative response.

1. Not everything is well at any club. Ours is 'any club'. Therefore, not all is well.

2. More to the point though, I do not accept that the majority of people here can't see the issues we're facing today. Other posters have highlighted them even in the last page or two.

3. Those who still deny the above, will not be satiated if I explain in detail my reasons for thinking "not all is well". The more I say, the more I'll get lampooned. The response to my last post is one of many examples of that.

4. I (and others) got roundly mocked on this forum in July last year for questioning our transfer dealings (or lack thereof). Naturally, the mockers were nowhere to be seen when I (and others) were proven right.

I see two underlying problems here;

1. A lot of people cannot handle an opinion outside of their own. The thought that Newcastle may not be well run in some areas, is utterly unbearable, so if someone like me points it out, the pitchforks come out.

2. While jumping to the conclusion that someone like me is some kind of negative Nancy who can't rationalise their views (or whatever the opinion is), people fail to actually be open to what the views of someone like me actually are. You might actually be surprised to hear how nuanced and reasonable they are.

It's a sad state of affairs when someone like me isn't free to have my own opinion, when it falls foul of the masses. I full expect to be informed why all of this is wrong too.

 You do like, that's how these things work.

I've shared my view in a number of ways before, and been consistently mocked and derided for it. Which in my naive view is not the way people - even on an internet forum - should treat different opinions. I guess the solution is to not share it at all, I'd save myself the hassle.

You are free to have your opinion. We are free to think it’s shit. Seriously, this self victimization horse shit is tiresome.

No one is stopping you from having your opinion. It is a forum though, so people are also entitled to disagree with it.

We see this a lot. "I'm not entitled to have an opinion" is just "I don't understand why my minority or unfounded opinion is receiving so much criticism".

Nah, it's more the attitude of - "ha, he has that opinion, what an idiot" - that's really pervasive. But I don't expect people to take responsibility for it.

So what is the basis of "all is not well behind the scenes"?

People disagree with your opinion, and that's fine. Don't worry about it.

How did all that panicking work out for you last season?

None. All is well. No cause for any concern, in any area.

You don’t know anything, like the rest of us is the point. You may believe all is not well, fair point. But that’s just your opinion yes?

None of us have any clue about what goes on behind the scenes. Mitchell, Ashworth and Stavely all left unexpectedly to us but was probably not a surprise behind the scenes.

I... didn't panic. But I got the double whammy of experiencing a crap summer as a Newcastle fan, and being ripped out too for basically calling it out quite early. Lovely stuff.

If you're suggesting it was all ok because we finished 5th and won a cup, well, that's one way of looking at it. I would say we did that in SPITE of stuff behind the scenes, and we won't keep getting away with that. That's a cause for concern in my view.

Well you complained you weren't entitled to your opinion, I've asked you what the basis for your opinion is, as I've not seen any of your previous posts.

I don't have any reason to suggest anything is particularly good or bad behind the scenes. Obviously no Sporting Director is less than ideal, but it doesn't follow anything is particularly off.

Dare I say that some players do not want to play for us because of the geography?

The draw of that London and the bright lights of ermm.. Liverpool & Manchester may sway a few.

Always been a problem for us.

But in reality it’s all about the money, I think we will make some sound signings soon but not superstars, we tend to make superstars up here.

That is my opinion 🙂
