NUFC Transfer Rumours

I've shared my view in a number of ways before, and been consistently mocked and derided for it. Which in my naive view is not the way people - even on an internet forum - should treat different opinions. I guess the solution is to not share it at all, I'd save myself the hassle.

Asking someone to back up an assertion and then for them to say they don't have to and it's just their opinion isn't a fault with the people asking.

Dare I say that some players do not want to play for us because of the geography?

The draw of that London and the bright lights of ermm.. Liverpool & Manchester may sway a few.

Always been a problem for us.

But in reality it’s all about the money, I think we will make some sound signings soon but not superstars, we tend to make superstars up here.

That is my opinion 🙂

The big problem is we’re competing with much richer clubs for players. It’s not Brentford and Fulham getting chosen over us. I also doubt Liverpool and Manchester are considered destination cities.

I don’t buy into the idea all is not well behind the scenes. Howe seems to have more control than ever before. It’s debatable we have the necessary experience and skill set behind the scenes to get deals done, but that is a separate issue.

I agree, but would caution against the whole amount of control narrative which has become a thing.
I mean that I don’t think he’ll have any more to do than he normally does. He certainly won’t be doing grunt work or initial approaches; and whatever else is involved in early stages of pursuing transfer targets. He will, as ever (I would hope), simply be well informed about progress on the players he has had a primary role in identifying as priorities for particular positions. And maybe have been asked recently for replacements (if we’ve been blown out by all on the list for a position).

It's a sad state of affairs when someone like me isn't free to have my own opinion, when it falls foul of the masses.

A significant turning point, for the worse, in our society was when being told to shut the fuck up online started to be equated with censorship.

Exactly this! Martyr complexes for some of the most undeserving citizens. Martyrdom but without the elbow grease of being boiled in a cauldron of hot water.

I get why folks are nervous. Last summer was messy and we've had a couple of knock backs early in the window.

I was hoping for a body or two in for preseason, but even if it doesn't materialise the club knows we're short all over the park and will make signings.

Pretty sure we will. I’m pretty certain however that we won’t get as many in as we should, and probably could have afforded. Mainly because of running out of time.

Having said that, I think it’s pretty poor if we don’t manage to bring in even a single one for preseason   (Or at least around the beginning of it.

Exactly Kimbo, hence “it’s all about the money“

If we started spunking cash like City did after their takeover we’d be flying now, but rules were put in place.

@southernmag

Its got nowt to do with "not being allowed to have an opinion". It's talking baseless bullshit and getting called out for it.

You could have said:

In my opinion not all is well behind the scenes.

Or

I wonder if not all is well behing the scenes?

Nobody would have come at you.

The reality is this:

We've not signed a player because we've got a limited pot of money, not an insignificant amount of money but its only going to go so far.

For every deal we are doing, we need to count every penny (or million) because if we dont, towards the back end of the window when we want that back up striker, centre midfielder or full back, if we've over spent in other areas we won't be able to do it.

We could sign Elanga and Trafford tommorow and still have money for a CB, for example, but is that all we want? We've all talked about needing quite a few bodies, well we cant get a those bodies if we blow our entire budget on 2/3 players. It's saving money now, so we've got wriggle room later.

Let's say Forest are asking for 65m for Elanga. We could pay it... or we could try and shave 10m off the fee, via negotiation, incentives and clauses. Taking out time to do that might just be the difference in us signing a striker in late August or at least giving us the option to do so.

Ive heard loads of people saying "just shop abroad for cheaper players" but that only works if they are good players (which is subjective), I'm sure we'd not waste a second if we could find someone like Huijsen, but for every Huijsen at 10m, you get an Antony/Sancho for 80m.

Im persistently checking twitter and here like everyone else and sure its frustrating but cry arsing or making up negative bullshit on a football forum isn't the answer.

We will sign players, its to what standard and how many which is the question but let's dissect is after?

We have to be looking at four minimum.

Shields Gazette… are suggesting we’re after Xavi Simons, who wants CL football. Is this a new rumour?

About two days late. BILD reported it and said he’s not interested.
