NUFC Transfer Rumours

12m for him on the back of that really impressive second half of the season on loan is still great business. Huge bummer he got injured twice but flop is a hella strong word.

That's fair. Although $12M at the time perhaps seemed more expensive than it does today (1/3 of Bruno).

Didn't Gordon play up front in some young lads tournament and do well, that must be why some think he's capable there. Up against quality cb's he clearly isn't, doesn't know the position, what runs to make

Brentford fans surely would be a bit gutted and concerned if they lost their manager, Mbeumo and Wissa in the same summer.

What if, plot twist, we got Wissa in the next few days and Brentford decided they couldn’t lose both him and Mbuemo and refused to sell him to Man U.

Oh how the bleats from that side of the Irwell would be heard all over the world

Wissa seems a bit old for Eddie, however he never stops grafting and he could be another Burn/Trippier type oven ready signing.

If we're raiding Brentford whilst they're (arguably) vulnerable, how about testing the water for Damsgaard?

Remember he did well up for them when he came on, and in other games. Still relatively young (24), creative attacking midfielder, not sure what he'd cost though.

As if Damsgaard is 24  looks about fotty. He must have had hair like Steve McDonald before he was out of his teens.

Aye, admittedly thought he was a lot older, but he's just turned 25.... allegedly.

I'd be tempted by Strand-Larsen before Wissa or Watkins. Wonder how much he'd cost?

Edit: Just seen he was on loan last year, so hes no bueno.

Would be really excited about Wissa, think he's a really good all-round PL striker, brings a bit of all the key attributes you'd want.

Be a decent back up for Isak - depends on the price for me though.  I am sure I read Brentford wanted £50mil for him.

Wissa and Watkins both have lots of talent but are the wrong age profile for us.

Not saying your wrong but depends who is running the ship Howe never had an issue with older players Burn, Woods, Trips to a lesser extent Barnes (coming into peak age)

Directors of football wanted to lower the age of the squad but are no longer here.

Maybe if they can get 3 or 4 years out of a player then that's precived value worth it without a resale.

Not saying it's a wise model in a psr world but maybe the club feel it can be done in a backup position while osula isn't ready and allows for a larger range of potential targets.

For me, it's a concern If we are just throwing money on fees for older players mind, let's hope the club has the foresight not too.

Agreed although if we sign 4 this window and 3 are under 24 and one is 28 or 29 and buying older is the compromise to stretch the budget I guess that's the compromise we would have to live with. We can't do it in every position as we have a fairly old squad and psr as mentioned but callum was 33? So getting someone 3 or 4 years younger is still bringing the squad age down.

Aye it would be however for me, players in that 28+ range have to be freebies. We are definitely in a tricky spot as I doubt we have the budget to do everything this summer and some form of compromise will have to be found.

How often is a quality player around this age bracket even going for free?

That's the compromise Cuba, as I've said we can't afford to do everything we would want/need to.

It's why we have to be careful with how much we pay and the age profile we target, for us signing assets that won't appreciate it value is a mistake, we have to be ready to sell and apart of this is being able to choose who we sell for minimum negative impact. This is why we have to be quite firm on the players who we do target.

Gordon doesn't have the technical ability to be the focal point of your attack imo, and seems to mope about if you put him on the right and take away his ability to cut inside.

I'd take Wissa for a sub 30m fee, otherwise (as others have said) I'd like us to push for an inexpensive option. But not DCL please.

Jack Rudoni being linked again. Makes more sense now we know Longstaff is going. Looks decent, good feet, goal threat in the air, definitely more dynamic offensively than Longstaff.

Got me thinking it's been a while since we've signed a player from a Championship club. Jamal Lewis arriving from Norwich the last one potentially? That was 5(?) years ago.

I don't mean from a club that's just been relegated either because that doesn't feel like it counts 😂 So not Osula, Barnes or Tino.
