NUFC Transfer Rumours

If we say spend 200m this summer, but nothing the next 2 summers (without sales) what position does that leave us in?

maybe we are willing to spend big now, and are confident that the next few windows will only need a few additions, or confident of a sale, or could it be that else have new sponsorships etc in the pipeline and we are just spending in advance?

I think it's just a case of getting our long term targets in if there's an opportunity. That's Howe's way of working, I think he would definitely rather pay a bit more now and have a couple of quiet windows later if it means we can get the RIGHT players in. Especially with us being in the CL this season.

His way of moulding, instilling team spirit and generating the feel good factor gets the extra mile out of the group.

Exactly. We have the perfect sales pitch this summer. Champions league football and have just won a trophy. Now is the time to strike.

Absolutely. Back Eddie PIF. Back him all the way.

The thing is, if we inject 200m of quality to go with what we already have, we'll have a huge amount of equity in the squad. So we'll be in a much better position in future windows to make profitable sales and stave off the PSR gremlins.

Really hope we're eyeing 3 young, undervalued players to give us options.. a Minteh type, a Baturina type, then another midfielder or a mouldable center back...close to ready. Well possible to improve the floor of the squad and massively raise its ceiling by next year, probably by the second half of this year. The midfield currently is worrying. Even when fit, it doesn't work in every game, sometimes we need someone in for Joe with better attacking qualities. Especially now we have Elanga, we can cut teams open, Joe's passing wouldn't be good enough for those games. What do people think about the Gallagher links? Certainly has some decent passing, but more of an all rounder, can fill in for any of the 3 to an extent. If Bruno was injured we'd want a quality player there. Feel like a young lad with belief in his ability will do well regardless of age, because he's got such great lads round him.

Interesting how Sesko's stock has fallen as much as it has.

Think it’s just the likely higher wages and agent fee, with the transfer fee that’s putting clubs off. Not worth the outlay, and Etitike isn’t either if we’re talking release clause, even £70m is at the upper limit and probably only a goer if wages are around £120k

Incredibly quiet on Trafford/CB front.

Obviously Isak and Ekitike noise dominating right now but we can't lose sight of the fact we need a CB and probably a CM now Longstaff has gone.

I'm sure there's several plates spinning and the Longstaff move appears to have been finalised whilst the Ekitike story developed.

There's going to be several twists and turns as we're obviously serious about improving our squad.

I'm actually pleased about the Longstaff news because that to me indicates we are in for a new midfielder who hopefully will be able to bring more than Sean was able to last year.
