NUFC Transfer Rumours

The Isak thing is clearly paralysing our entire market though. Whatever fee we get, and who we get to replace him, likely changes the budgets massively for other positions like CB and CM. The whole thing is an omnishambles.

Hopefully Wissa and Thiaw will be done fairly soon.

This window is painful man.

If we don't get in at least a CB, CM and a striker we're weakened. And then there's a knock-on effect where next summer we'll need even more players to come in as Burn, Schar and Trippier are all 33+ and Isak will definitely be out the door (if he's not already).

Realistically if we go into the season as we are now, we'll not finish top 5. So this is the window when we're likely the most attractive we'll be to players for a while - champions league, just won a cup, money to spend.

Dread to think what next summer will be like if we retain the same recruitment infrastructure, have a more pressing need to bring players in, and we lack the allure of being in the champions league.

Anyway, fingers crossed for a miraculous transformation in our ability to identify good targets and get them to sign for us in the next 3 weeks!

I know it's a risky time to be positive, but I'm 99% sure we won't have the same infrastructure in place by next summer. They have to get these new executive appointments right.

We really need to work on filling out the squad and make it a priority. Signing a Callum Wilson replacement sort of takes care of the striker situation short term anyway, just get it done.

Unfortunately we have to wait for Brentford to do something, and if they don’t get anyone else then we will have to go without a Wilson replacement. Our approach to Wissa is absolute buffoonery.

I would say we couldn't make the same mistake twice after the Guehi buffoonery last summer, but who knows?

I think we will stay clear of Guehi for exactly that reason since Liverpool will come in for him as soon as we start talking to them again, and we can't suffer the PR of it happening yet again.

We have to force the hand though. It's better than doing nothing, as Liverpool getting him for £0 next summer is a joke when it should be costing them £40m minimum.

Has Gallagher not done well in Spain? Why is he available?

He has, but just one of those transfer where theres been noise all summer, which indicates Gallagher wants to come back and Atletico will be open if terms are good. Simeone is someone who's never stood in way of someone leaving. They give their all for him, he's happy to repay back.

Gallagher - something to do with having 5 non-EU players and only 4 slots.

Would anyone be happy with Thiaw, McGinn, Wissa and then Adam Armstrong and Bobbie Clarkey for a bit of cover in the midfield and attack? Selling Isak of course.

Are you insane, this would be awful.

Haven't you read the Palace forum? Seems they'd be honoured if Guehi ended up at Liverpool, even on a free. Whereas they'd have nothing but contempt for the player and owner if he ended up with us. We're not really a step up apparently, which to to be fair, us finishing 9th and Palace 10th is quite feasible this season.

Fancy explaining why you want us to sign a rapist or you just gonna leave meathead remarks around for us to join the dots?

WTF, I mentioned his name.

Perhaps a reasonable response would have been "I know we are looking for a goal scorer and looking at the top scores across the top leagues in Europe and he was the top in France, HOWEVER because of his past actions I don't think he would pass the no dickhead policy and I'd rather we weren't associated with him"

I never said we should sign him, I mentioned his name.

IMO the abuse I have received is totally uncalled for.
