Wow

Have you honestly came away from a game and thought "wow what a player"?

I've watched him closely and I can say he is an above average centre half. No way would I describe him as wow.

Never seen it once. Be happy to be proven wrong.

For me that's why Botman's so good. You don't tend to notice the best defenders that much cause they just snuff stuff out calmly before it happens. Burn's a great defender, but everything he does looks like he's at his max effort to do it. Botman does the same stuff with far less fuss, plus he's far better on the ball at CB.

They're both great mind so no harm preferring either.

He'll take the left back slot for himself soon. But I don't think it's clear cut Burn won't take Botmans spot.

Hall looked incredibly sharp given he’s been out. He will be our starting left back soon. Burn will, deservedly based on Botman’s form thus far, take the LCB role.

I think Botman has at times looked exceptional. But since he’s been back from injury/this season he just looks a bit off it. Out of position, labouring a bit, made quite a few errors, not developed the way we all thought he would and just feel he has a rick in him. Unpopular view but just saying what I see.

Feet like Ben Arfa a good few times.  Barely played this season, yet he came on and decided he was never going to just clear the ball.  But beat a man or two and then play it into feet.

What a tidy footballer.  Will help loads with getting the ball up the pitch.  I'd usually say from his passing, similar to Trippier.  With someone like Tino being more of the type to carry it upfield.  But Hall was going on some mazy runs himself last night.  Very comfortable slotting into the middle to give us an extra man in there, too.

Like others have said, I think he might be playing wing back to keep Burn in the team as the third centre back.  If not Sunday, then after the break.

With good feet and passing like that, calm under pressure, I think he'd be very capable on the left up top too. We've seen he's not afraid of taking a shot, and the potential interplay between Woltemade and himself is droolworthy.

Be a dumb move, as it then compromises elsewhere, i.e. Ramsey not getting a run of games.

Not what I would do, as overall, I think the 5 at the back has been a lot more shit than good.  I just think it will happen though.  Hall is too good not to play and Howe has shown time and again Burn is virtually undroppable for league and any big game.

Ramsey could actually get a run, anyway.  As it depends if it is more 3-5-2 or that 3-4-2-1 which we have seen a bit.  The latter we don't really have the players to play in the 2 at the minute, if at all.

He’s looking so good since being back, one of the few positives with Thiaw at the moment.

That cross he put in which was cleared by Henry was probably our most dangerous move.

Would love to see the players take the trophy to his house, gutted for him that he missed out.

Hall has spoken about missing the Cup final:

Quote

Hall’s injury last season forced him to miss Newcastle’s Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool – something he admits still pains him.

“It was incredibly difficult,” he said, reflecting on his injury issues. “I think it was the worst part of my career so far, really.

“The cup final was one for me that was incredibly hard to take, really. And even now, although we’ve won and I’m obviously buzzing that we’ve won, I’ve got my medal and everything that I’ve contributed, but at the same time, it still hurts quite a lot seeing that and just not being able to be there. Not so much not being able to play, but I’d had my surgery literally five days before, so I wasn’t able to get to the game and celebrate with the team, which was quite difficult for me.”
