Reiterate what others are saying @Isaak You wont be able to hop off the train at Hexham and straight into an uber. You'll probably have to pre book a taxi from Hexham to Carlisle for when you arrive at Hexham. I reckon you're looking at £90+ for that. Thats providing the train isnt cancelled too.

Your best bet is to sack off Carlisle and book at hotel in Newcastle after the game. Then you can get an early train to the Lake district. It depends where you're staying in the lakes but you could be in Oxenholme, Kendal, Windemere early enough from Newcastle the next day.

If you're dead set on staying in Carlisle, call a Hexham/Carlisle taxi firm and arrange for them to be waiting for when you get off your train in Hexham - they will definitely do this if its pre arranged. Worst comes to worst, there are hotels in both Newcastle and Hexham (travelodge) you can walk in to so you'll not actually be on the streets for the night. Dont get off the train at Hexham expecting a taxi/uber though, you'll have to pre book it.

Bars open on collingwood street till 3am - then you have powerhouse and the genting / aspers casino open until 4am. The Grosvenor is actually open 24 hours. Then first train is 5.42 am - no hotel needed :) Just some stamina on the drink...

Just really confirming what others have already shared…

Last train 21:25 so you’d need to be out the ground by 21:05 and pre paid your ticket and still need to be brisk as it’s quite often the furthest platform from entrance. It’s currently marked up Platform 9. Next train is 5:42 Thursday which even maximising the late drinking hours at certain places you’ll be left a long layover in the station.

If you are able to i’d cancel your hotel in Carlisle and book somewhere in Newcastle/Gateshead instead for the night and get a train next day like others have suggested. Don’t think getting the 22:53 to Hexham a viable alternative as taxi from Hexham to Carlisle would cost you a fortune.

If you are really stuck I’ve a spare room at mine (Gateshead) you can use if you want to meet on the night as I’ll be out with a few on here pre & post match. Can drop you back next morning in Newcastle for your site seeing/train if need be.

Good luck ?? Happy to help if stuck ??

I'd seriously consider taking LFEE up on this offer @Isaak, if still valid and you haven't found a better solution than a late train and spending a fortune on a taxi/Uber. I stayed at Paul's last weekend, three nights no less, and it was class. The guy is an absolute gem to boot, and it would allow you to properly enjoy the game and perhaps some post match drinks with a great bunch.

Such an important game.. If we win, we're obviously super confident about our chances. If we don't win, it's a bit scary considering our next 2 gamer are away from home.
