I would hope not. Can imagine if he's knocking about the market towards the end of the window and we need a body.

If we wanted him that much it would done this week, you'd think.

Reckon it's more Wilson not signing on. We can't fill all of our holes with players who cost a lot.

I'm not saying we're not interested, just doubt that it's a recent thing.

The thing that makes sense about it is that there aren’t a great deal of genuine dual purpose players like Pedro available.

We’re going to need some form of back-up to Isak, ideally we probably want it to be in the form of that type of dual purpose player, but assuming we can’t find another one of them, we pivot to going to an outright backup striker.

Yeah, for me it feels like they want a back up striker and a number 10 type player. &nbsp

It's not. Howe was a big admirer going back a couple of years, this was mentioned yesterday as well.

Call me really old school but could we take him on trial, put him through pre-season paces and defer a decision.

If we sign him then it means he’s physically up for being a part of the team and he’s immediately up to speed.

if we don’t sign him then he’s had a preseason with some elite coaches so should be all ready to go elsewhere.

We could but why would he do that when hell no doubt get an offer from Turkey or Saudi

DCL isn’t bad in general play at all tbf. He links up well, has a great leap and puts in a shift but, admittedly, it’s hard to overlook his poor finishing, sketchy availability and underwhelming goal return.

If the wages aren’t crazy it’s hardly a disaster of a signing imo. I mean it’s a free transfer.

I don't know where I heard it but supposedly he turned down Man U.

Those clubs will be just as willing to wait for the opportunity to sign him late August. But this would be his shot at a chance to play CL football at a PL club

Sign him, get him up to speed and playing well then sell him to Juventus

Honestly wouldn’t mind him as a back up. His fitness record hasn’t been that bad in recent years he just hasn’t scored many goals but I’m pretty confident Howe could get the best out of him if that’s who we go for. Whateger Howe/the club decide on I’m happy with really.

Same here. I’d be happy with Isak, DCL and Osula as the three forwards as long as we spend everything left on the other priority areas. I’d love us to sign the guy that Everton are getting as the DCL replacement (Thierno Barry), but we just don’t have the funds free to drop £30m on someone like that

Someone mentioned before, he'd be the most underwhelming signing since the summer of Lee Bowyer. Yes indeed.

He has a pretty bad injury record, his scoring record isnt much better, and hes already 28. The only good thing is hes "free", and everyone knows free doesnt mean free anymore.

Effectively we'd be swapping one permacrock for another...except the new one wouldnt score as much when fit.

Does the fact that no-one else(apart from comically Man U) has been seriously linked not ring alarms? Or the fact that a bottom half team didnt even attempt to keep him? Arrogance or not we are currently better than Everton, and if he isnt good enough for them we shouldnt even be looking

How many has Howe got wrong since he’s been here?

As for the Bowyer comment, are we just pretending the Ashley era didn’t happen? Ffs

Not many, but there hasnt been any that look so obviously wrong...only Targett perhaps, and even he had an element of sense at the time. Taking a crap injured striker from a perenial relegation circular hardly screams ambition from a champions league team.

And yes i recall the Ashley era in all its painfull misery...and signing rubbish players just cos they were free didnt exactly work well
